This month, says Ubisoft.

Ubisoft has confirmed that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be heading to Xbox Live Arcade this month, and will be priced at 400 points.

The game is Ubisoft's first-ever Live Arcade release on the 360, and was originally a 1989 arcade hit. Conversion duties are being handled by retro stalwarts Digital Eclipse, and the side-scrolling beat 'em up will feature all seven levels. All are playable in co-op modes offline or online over Xbox Live for up to four players.

"The release of the TMNT classic arcade game on Xbox LIVE Arcade is Ubisoft's homage to a world-renowned franchise that for almost 20 years has captured the hearts of gamers," James Regan, director of new business development at Ubisoft told IGN this morning.

"Ubisoft is breathing new life into the video game franchise with the launch of our downloadable console games while remaining true to the unique core values that make the Turtles so timeless."

This is the kind of game that SHOULD be 400 points. I hope this starts a new trend as i have to admit to being a tad annoyed with XBLA pricing. Why should Something like SF2 be 800 points when for the same price you can get an entirely new (and modern) game?

(Don't even get me started on the Virtual Console. 800 points for Sonic the Hedgehog and they STILL haven't sorted out the sound issue!?)

Simply because it went tits-up, and I was lucky enough to get a refund rather than needing to deal with Microsoft. I've decided not to replace it with another one any time due to the reliability issues. I'll probably wait six months or so and see what the situation is then.

I've only ever played (and had great fun with) NES Turtles, so I feel a bit lost, here...Can anyone offer a non-opinionated summary of the arcade release?
(Oh...Yet another reason to buy a Wii. The NES version's headed VC-wards apparently - wikipedia; but still...about the above..? )

I don't actually know if it's the game I loved, or the fact that I just have great memories of me and three of my friends arguing over who gets the pizza/health, and coming up with strategies....

What a brilliant surprise, one of the best piece of news I've heard so far this year!

As a skint Turtles-obsessed kid on holiday at Butlins I used to spend ages just watching the demo mode on this at one of the arcades because I didn't have enough money (was constantly begging me mam for some to no avail). Never did get to actually play it, so you can imagine the levels of nostalgia I'm feeling at the moment.

What with this and the high possibility of SoR2 coming out (hopefully soon) on the Wii VC I'm in retro side-scrolling beat 'em up heaven right now

@ Waldo yes people do wanna pay for this game! It's just a matter of taste! No one needs to like every game that's out, but this is from the 80's and if you're born in that year like i am you will love this game. These games were the rulers back then and it still does! none 3d games got you back to play it for years. It's all the same these days. Facts, period.
