The original actually made it to demo on Xbox. I remember being underwhelmed but always like the ideas...hope it lives up to it.

Glad to see they've taken time to fix all the problems - Played the demo for the original version and it was pretty poor...

I dunno if I like the sound of the "hand holding" that goes on when you use your powers, is it gonna be a case of "I need to use a power, I'll just hit X and the game will choose it for me"? Kinda like the investigating bits in Condemned?

are there any more new screenshots, since those two are about 75% black? Or is that the improved visuals?

Aye... I was gunna say... I'm sure I played the demo of this ages ago and it was very broken. I think I got as far as walking 100 metres and then switched off and uninstalled it.

Apparently the hand holding only goes so far, it does still give you the choice over which of the three powers to use, he said.

The bit where Kyle rewound time and you saw water going from a forming pool back up a drainpipe was rather nice. I think there's even a gun that lets you freeze the water. It's pretty good stuff. A lot of what was discussed sounded quite fanciful, but if they can pull it off, it'll be good. Things like rewinding time to the point of an ambush, and getting the jump on them before your enemies get the chance to do their evil bidding could be superb if they pull it off.

Wow. I remember playing the demo for this on the PC a long time ago and thinking to myself, "This is crap". It sure doesn't look like the same game now, judging from those screenshots. I'm not really interested in yet another linear shooter, but it's still impressive to see how much they've changed the game around.

Be nice if the Duke Nukem Forever folk came out and said they were doing the same thing.

Always wanted this thing to work - extreme kudos to the suits for allowing it to happen.

I have the old 360 demo that came on a cover disk for the official 360 mag about 12 months ago and it was absolutley god awful in every sense of the word, the powers were well implemented but graphically it looked visually inferior to Doom 3 on the xbox and the physics were non existant.

Its good to see they have took the time to rebuild it while still retaining the time powers. The only fun bit in the demo was rewinding the action after seeing a soldier blow up your support troopers so you could kill him before he releases this rocket launcher.

Clever and could now actually be half decent.

Saladin:
"Shame about the steampunk."

I humbly agree. Not that I have anything against gritty, oppressive environments but the X360 has plenty of these already. Steampunk, on t'other hand, is a very interesting style and not one I can remember being used in a game before.

Campaign for the awareness that it is current gen and not next gen!Next gen is now X720/PS4 or PS720!

Only problem is Wii where do it fit in?

Timeshift looked far better now and would be great if EA asks their developers, 'if you have an extra year..' imagine what their annual garbarge releases would become?

"You can affect time in other ways, such as by throwing time slow/stop grenades, which explode in a "temporal sphere of time"."

Oh cool. I had that idea. Didn't do anything about it, though.

There could be some cool uses of it, like, you start the temporal sphere, then, you shoot lots of rockets into it (so they become suspended in there a bit like jelly) and then you turn it off, and a wall of rockets flies out.

The guy on the front page pic looks like a bald, psychotic Robin Williams. If I get to dismember Robin Williams, and then rewind and slow time so I can watch his mangled corpse as it flies apart in slow motion , you have a sale.

"As the screen shots convey, the game now has a convincing next gen feel to it"

Come on, krudster, it's time to retire the "next-gen" stuff till you're previewing a PS4 or Xbox 720 title.

I agree that the original demo was pretty poor; however, that the only way to "fix" it is to reduce player choice, increase linearity and turn what was a fairly original visual style into brain-dissolvingly generic "gritty environments" makes me weep for this industry. That, and the extra year of crunch, of course.
