I can imagine that a gang of shotgun wielding gang members headed by Timothy Dalton would have as much menace as a basket full of newly-awakened jack russel puppies.

it is a great game... though i would have thought the review would have mentioned that there is one major problem online which is when playing multiplayer there is no after match lobby or chat it just drops you straight out of the game. and no chat about the last 18 holes at all, or that final putt that just won you or lost you the game!

Brilliant game. Took me by surprise as I've long considered TW games utter gash.

Can you play in a mode that doesn't have the stupid spin and power buttons that I thought ruined the previous console outtings ?

The whole idea of being able to alter the spin on the ball whilst it is in the air completely removes any feeling of playing a real game of golf for me. 'Oh no its going to overshoot, quick hammer the back spin.' or 'Oh no its coming up short, apply some top spin.' They should be things taken into consideration when you play the shot, not a reaction to your shot selection or implementation being bad.

The power up button was not quite so bad, but it still made it feel too much like a track and field arcade game rather than an golf game. Yes allow me to select to try and really blat the ball at the expense of accuracy if I want, but make it a conscious decision before I start playing the shot not some button hammering effort.

Really enjoying this. Here's hoping the Wii version makes good use of the wiimote. If they
pull it off (snigger), it'll be a winner.

Are there many online Achievements (not an expert in Golf games, and hate to drop my 89% game completion ratio) ?

@Ceatlan - yup. on the highest difficulty setting you got none of that power up shit or after spin option... so just raw old golf. and its hard. very very hard.

Biggest problem with this game: there's no point competing in the PGA season (at least two-thirds of the game's contents) until you've built up a decent golfer. And the only way to do that is to progress through the Tiger Challenge ladder. Which means you're pretty much forced to do one thing, and one thing only, before the game opens up. If you find that too hard, you might as well give up. Even multiplayer doesn't let you beef your stats up any more, which leaves things feeling a bit pointless.

I really wasn't impressed at all with this game. Too easy... and the graphics are par for a PS2 game. How this and GoW could be rated the same is a cryin' shame. "Here you go EA... here's another great score for hardly trying." We're just happy it's not complete crap, I suppose? That alone makes it deserving of a good score?

Thumbs down. Of course, that was, like, a year ago.
