EA stands by its man.

EA has decided to stick with Tiger Woods, announcing a new PGA Tour 11 game for release this summer.

The game is in development for iPhone, PS3, Wii and Xbox 360.

The rest of EA's press-release-breath was spent on Tiger Woods PGA Tour Online - the new, browser-based interpretation of golf.

Like Battlefield Heroes, customisation through experience points will provide the hook. But unlike Battlefield Heroes, there will be a tiered subscription model. How much you'll pay and for what, however, is not known.

There is Facebook integration, though, so at least your friends will swamp your FB news feed with updates whether you like it or not.

There's a free demo of Tiger Woods PGA Tour Online available from the game's website.

i've been in the beta for this for the online version for quite a while, browser based using unity plugin, quick download and you can save your progress ideal for those dull days at work

It will be interesting to see if EA can meaningfully improve upon the sublime, Motion Plus-enabled Tiger 11 on the Wii this year. Although they have flashier graphics, the 360 and PS3 versions are pretty much obsolete at this point.

expect wand support from Sony, which is basically the motion+ version in HD (which, by your logic, then renders the Wii game obsolete).

@JahB: If the PS3 version controls just as well as the Wii release, and has the same amount of features, then yes, those of us with both a PS3 and a Wii would be daft to go for the Wii version when we can play the same game in HD.

Well to be honest. EA hasnt got a golfer to put on the cover of its game, if it isnt tiger.
He is probably the only internationally known golfer there is. That might be arguable but still. Its either tiger or no golf game at all.
And no golf game means no millions from slight tweaks to the engine and play. Wopeee!!!!
