Tiger on top of UK charts

MySims debuts in second.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08 has improved its stroke to become the best selling game in the UK this week, GamesIndustry.biz reports.

Its release on PS3 helped it swing from third to first, knocking publisher pal Medal of Honor: Airborne off the top.

MySims, another EA title, entered the charts at number two this week, with the sales split at 58 percent on Wii and 42 percent on DS.

Super Paper Mario did a little climbing up to third this week, pursued in fourth by gun-slinging title Stranglehold.

Elsewhere Codemasters' Colin McRae: DiRT raced into the top ten at eighth, while World in Conflict spent its first week in 15th.

SingStar Rock Ballads announced its arrival further down in 25th, and Sonic Rush Adventure managed to break into the top 40 on its second week, climbing to 26th.

The only other new entry is WarHawk at 38, thanks to last week's Blu-ray release.

Next week seems like a bit of a dead cert for Halo 3, but then FIFA 08 is also out this Friday, so it could get interesting. Well, I say "interesting"...

GamesIndustry.biz is over there. Go.

Should they not start tallying sales over digital distribution? like they do for cds.

EA will still top the charts next week... FIFA 08 and skate. are out this week and more mainstream than H3.

I actually think the British public is silly enough for the sales to go Fifa > Halo I mean Fifa 07 and Pro Evo 6 are still in the top 40 charts after a years launch, but we'll see though.

Fifa I could believe given its multi platform release (although I still doubt it will sell more than Halo) but skate being mainstream? Thats just crazy talk.

Well, FIFA is out on PS2, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, DS, PSP, PC, GBA.
Halo 3 is out on 360.

So, there's no doubt that FIFA has a chance at number 1 in the All Formats/All Prices.

True that.. but the all format chart is not a real chart is it? ;)

You guys really underestimate the power of FIFA (and EA in general) in the UK. I don't deny that Halo 3 is great enough to sell sh*t loads but FIFA will probably outsell it anyway. Hell, FIFA could outsell Halo 3 with the PS2 version alone!
Mind you, I don't care either way, my Legendary Edition will be home soon \o/

@ Dizzy: No, I agree, the All Format chart is not a real chart. The Individual SKU chart is the real one, and Super Paper Mario topped that chart this week. I have no doubt that Halo 3 will top that chart, but just not so sure about the All Formats combined chart.

@ Nick: Charts are not about quality, why do you think Need For Speed is always Xmas N.1? Even if you think that FIFA is sh*t and Halo is great, it doesn't dictate which one will sell more. Like I said previously, FIFA could outsell Halo with the PS2 version alone and that's not difficult to work out.
Halo is still great though ;)

    *baby jesus is now crying*

No he's not; he's playing MySims.
  • RexRunti #13 4 years ago

Ahh but 360 owners buy more games than anyone else so there are many things to consider... wait a minute... why do i even care?
  • bestforever7 #14 4 years ago

One major detail your all forgetting is that halo 3 has a 2 day head start (or a week in some cases...) It will comfortably outsell fifa in the weekly sales

No Wii review on Eurogamer but it's scored pretty reasonably elsewhere, not a bad game by any means. A PC RTS is never going to outsell a Sims release on the biggest console is it?

Halo 3 will surely take top spot next week, I'm completely fed up with the TV advertising already, there can't be a person on earth who isn't aware of its release! Skate has reviewed very highly so there is no point dissing another "EA chart barrage" if it does do well, a good game is a good game regardless of publisher.

Oh, Tiger as in Tiger Woods....

And here I was thinking Tiger Telematics Gizmondo.

Just a message: anyone interested in Tiger Woods should go for the PC version and play it on the highest difficulty setting. I have yet to see a better simulation of golf.

Is there any idea of how many copies of Warhawk were sold? If that many physical copies were sold, later, and for more moolah, the electronic copy must have done pretty well. The lack of spaces on ranked servers (and the number of new servers they're chucking up daily to keep up with demand) would certainly indicate it.

Though would be nice if they finally sorted out the stats issue. My on screen rank is Recruit, screen caption rank is Airman, my profile says Command Sergent, when I should be an Airman 1st class. :/ Glad it's only the paint job which is affected.
