ThreeSpeech dates PSN games

Looks for love.

Sony's unofficial best friend ThreeSpeech has dated three more PlayStation Network titles.

According to its provisional prophecies we'll be seeing Calling all Cars on 18th May, Nucleus on 25th May and Super Stardust HD on June 15th.

Unfortunately Sony wasn't around to confirm or deny these dates, which will probably turn out to be American anyhow.

Calling all Cars is a humorous and fast-paced take on cops 'n robbers that takes place in a cartoon world. You and your friends will play as a bounty hunters, zooming around the crime-riddled streets trying to be the first to apprehend the runaway robbers – earning reward money when you do so. There'll be trunks full of weapons to spice things up and multiplayer action for up to four of you. Head over to our Calling all Cars gamepage for more information.

Nucleus, on the other hand, takes part inside a human body. You control a microscopic remote-controlled craft, which blasts away nasty cells from healthy bloodstreams. It's also got lots of nifty tricks up its sleeve, like a tractor beam that can link cells together to create shields, and the ability to collect protein to make big screen-clearing bombs. Mm, protein.

Finally there's Super Stardust HD, which pops you in a spacecraft and asks you to destroy everything you see. You hover around 3D planets blasting asteroids and debris out of your way using three different weapons. Once you've cleared a certain portion them nasty aliens will appear and try to kill you. It's looks absolutely bananas in a similar way to Geometry Wars, which is definitely a good thing in our books.

Network titles are available to buy from the PlayStation Store. All you need is a PS3, an Internet connection and some money.

Saunter over to the PlayStation website for more information.

Can you ask them if these games will support all HD resolutions and not just 720p? I'd like to be able to utilise my HD console with my HD-TV if Sony will permit.
  • DiscoMike #2 5 years ago

I'm already getting a boner for Super Stardust HD.
  • Darren #3 5 years ago

Super Stardust HD?!? Is that the same Super Stardust from Team17 that appeared on the Amiga in the early 90s?!? If so that was a terrific game so I'd definitely buy that for a dollar (or three). :)
  • Beano #4 5 years ago

    @morriss: I belive CAC will run in 1080p at 60FPS :)
  • fingersthebeaver #5 5 years ago

Three speach is an intresting beast, close enough to get a real inside track on releases and updates yet far enough away for Sony to say not our fault when they generate rumour about exclusives moving to PS3 etc.
  • Beano #6 5 years ago

Just like Major Assh... I mean Major Nelson ;)

Beano: 1080i only for me, I'm afraid.

Not seen it reported here yet but PS3 price cuts imminent - in the US and Japan...

From the UK Financial Times newspaper:

"Sony is reconsidering its pricing strategy for the PlayStation 3 in an effort to ignite sluggish sales in Japan and the crucial US market.

Ryoji Chubachi, Sony's president, said yesterday: "We are re-examining our [PS3] budgeting process in terms of pricing and volume. Sales assumptions change and the market is competitive. We are in the midst of revisiting our strategy for the PS3."

Great...wasn't this the site that came out with all those bogus release dates and saying bioshock wouldn't be a 360 exclusive only to come out and retract a bunch of "news" a few days later?

Between the joke of the marketing the PS3 has, the crap games, and this "semi-official" site (you are either offical or not) that likes to report rumor as news...Sony has a ton of work to do.

But...on a positive note...the latest PS3 update allows rumble in some ps2 games with a ps2 adapter and ps2 controller ...Weeeee! What a joke. Too little too late Fony.

@disc: personally I'd believe what Chubachi told the FT, after all he would know, it's not something he'd make up and it's the most obvious solution to slow sales.

Sony's problem with the interview is that if people believe a price cut is due then sales are going to dip further, hence the rebuttal. Chubachi slipped up in revealing what's on the cards, that's all.

Yes, spoken like a true Xbot.. focusing on the least interesting aspect of the update - git!
  • speedjack #14 5 years ago

Can someone please explain what the deal is with Three Speech ?

There is no such thing as 'semi-official'... you're either in Sony's pocket or you're not and this just smacks of being another ill conceived marketing ploy.

I wouldn't for a second compare it to Major Nelson though... at least he's upfront about being a Microsoft employee who has signed an N.D.A.. and I've yet to hear of him pimp an Xbox exclusive that didn't exist.
  • septimus #15 5 years ago

About time someone brought back Super Stardust. I still have that for CD32 somewhere.
  • Beano #16 5 years ago

@speedjack : It also helps that MN is from MS?

Seriously... you can't just bash TS and not MN... it's both or none because they are both 100% PR instruments of MS/Sony no matter what they claim.

So...what is the most interesting part of the update?

"If you press triangle on your login (if you have multiple logins) you can set which one you want to auto-login. "

Yeah...sounds sweet. Must have been too complicated for Sony to figure this one out before the release...
  • SpacemanX #18 5 years ago

Could we keep this thread civil and ON TOPIC. Thank you.

    And Super Stardust HD rocks.
  • Beano #19 5 years ago

Gott: "So...what is the most interesting part of the update? "

That PS3 owners now can play downloaded PS1 titles on PS3 and PSP.
And the PS1/PS2 emulator is updated with more titles and improved compatibility.

    @Beano
It's the nature of three speech that is a concern MSN is a microsoft mothpiece full stop, although if you read it it doesn't give a heavy slant to the 360. If MSN printed MGS4 is coming to XBOX 360 tomorrow the blame would be laid at Microsofts feet.

Threespeech is tied to SCE closely, however when Sony starts rumours through it, however untrue, the blame is laid at the feet of threespeech not Sony. A very good way to promote themselves without taking blame for what have sometimes been blatant lies.

  • Gott #26 5 years ago

    @ Beano

Ummm....who wants to play ps1 games?

If that is the most interesting part of the update then either you are already bored with your PS3 or there are no good PS3 games out....how about we go with a combonation of the two.

PS1 games now on PS3!! (Yawn)
  • Beano #27 5 years ago

    @Gott: "Ummm....who wants to play ps1 games?"

    People who have bought them?

And no... I'm not bored of my PS3... far to busy playing Resistance online, a game that by far eclipses all Xbox online games (I have a Xbox 360 I might add) :)

Looking forwardd to these games, weary about Nucleus though, hopefully it's better than BF.
  • Beano #30 5 years ago

Yes, Nucleus looks a lot like Blast Factor, Mutant Storm, etc. based on the screen-shots.... Calling All Cars looks very promising though - looking forward to that one ;)
  • Gott #31 5 years ago

    @ Beano

HAHAHA...RFOM more like ROFL. This is coming from the guy who is still playing PS1 games...

The game is mediocre at best.

Take your horrible taste in video games and go play some cell phone games.
  • Machetazo #32 5 years ago

I didn't like Blast Factor. I dl-ed the demo, and made a monkey of it too quickly. So it didn't really inspire a purchase. (Any comments on the full game? Is that demo representative, in terms of difficulty?)

But I'm interested in Nucleus. Indeed, while I was trying BF, I was thinking - sod this "test subject" malarkey, why not just have a similar concept within the human body. Et, voila! Here it may be. So I'll def. check that out.

Visit 1up if you want to see and read more on Nucleus, as they recently previewed it, (notably, the gameplay does appear to differ markedly, from BF.) The team over there, brought their stills camera out its bag for the occasion, too.

Super Stardust HD sounds fantastic...Can we get more coverage, please? If not, it'll be a demo decider for me. But I think it could be a good one. :)

  • spongebob #36 5 years ago

disc, thanks for the update on Nucleus soundtrack. Might be interesting just to check it out for some Rephlex-style electronic music.

Also, Super Stardust HD! Sweet. This was one of the most (graphically) impressive titles on Amiga.
  • Gott #37 5 years ago

I'm a troll because I'm not impressed with the PS3 update?

or because I don't think the PS3 "flagship" game is that great??

    HAHA

Beano is just getting embarrassed...poor kid.
  • JediMasterMalik #38 5 years ago

Why would you need to be impresssed with the update?

And how can you b unimpressed by something you haven't played?

    That's why you're a troll.
  • Gott #39 5 years ago

I haven't played RFOM because then that would a) mean that i paid a stupid amount of money for a system without any good games, or b) I had any friends who were stupid enough to pay over 600 for a console without any good games.

Straight up. PS3 is getting embarrassing...Wii is crushing them when they say that wii isn't their competition, they say they don't even want to include rumble yet settle a lawsuit paying for rumble, call out the 360 for using software emulation and then 6 months after their launch they start using software emulation...bunch of dumbasses over there...

Sony's global marketing/management is like a presentation where the person keeps fumbling aorund, getting the story mixed up, forgeting what they said, when they said it and what it meant, because they keep chaning their mind about what the system does or will do. Complete idiots.

If you Zombies want to keep letting Sony assrape you be my guest...You must like it because of those dumb grins plastered on your face.
  • chacha #40 5 years ago

As much as i agree that Gott is a troll, i do share some of his sentiments. I have had a ps3 since the japanese launch (thanks to my loving wife) and have to admit that RFOM has not really impressed me all that much, its a mediocre FPS at best.

At the moment my PS3 is gathering dust thanks partly to my addiction to crackdown but mostly because there is a serious lack of must own games. IMO RFOM had it been released for the x360 would not have gotten a look in as it does nothing that others shooters on the box dont do already.

Gott your really not helping your case.
  • Gott #42 5 years ago

I just get worked up sorry...

    But my case is solid.

When you buy a system you aren't just buying a system, you are buying into the developers that support it and the management that makes the decisions. So far Sony is having serious problems with both.

    All I'm tryin to say.

  • miiiguel #43 5 years ago

This "I'm impressed", "I'm so excited" (& spicy variations of the same expressions) must be a joke right ?
    Have you seen XBLA ?
One thing is "promessing"; "no comments"; "maybe"; "semi-official", and the ever so lovely "TBA", and then you have the REAL DEAL, the pick and play right now - 360.
There are so many games at XBLA that I can't even bother to scroll all the way down to list them all. There's even a "PS-flagship" there, and it's pretty nice - Castlevania.

Beano : Major Nelson is a MS employee, not an unpayed fanboy (aka dumb ppl).

Gotta love the "I hate PS3" comments. I thought that we'd be over that by now. All of the so called next-gen consoles are out so pick your choice or choices and play with them. Everything else is just noise.
  • 3william56 #48 5 years ago

On the page of Disc's rebuttal, there's an article about whether the 'box has been a disaster for MS investors. It claims that MS has lost $5.4 billion on the Xbox, and is only expecting the 360 to break even over the cycle.

    $5.4 BILLION??? O_O

Holy crap. Oh to have Billy G's depth of pockets.

/feel free to add "M$ is teh d00m3d" comments here.

But a PS3 price cut *is* inevitable (the Aus Sony head also mentioned something similar last month). The change to software BC has dropped the manufacturing cost, so even maintaining the same margin they can drop the price a little. Question is when. But personally, I doubt it will make as much difference as some top notch games. We'll see what happens when MGS get out.
  • miiiguel #49 5 years ago

chill, no need to offend, I was just stating facts. Can you or can't you play cazilions more quality games on the 360 right now?
About the so called "doomed"; "multi-billion loss" and alikes that Gates and friends are suffering... I couldn't care less. Gates can go to the unployment line for all I care, as long as I can play 360.

But another fact, ppl complain MS charges a lot of money for their products, then they say they suck because they loose money on their products by selling them so cheap. I think this definetly went into the esoteric field, it became - for PS-only gamers - a matter of politics I think. Glad I keep that stuff to the voting booth; glad I can enjoy good products.
No worries though, it's your money/life. I only live once, and fortunetly it's right now.

    multi-edits: even lousier english...

little-provocation: when is the next AAA PS3 title coming out ? Is it "TBA" or "TBC" ?
