Three new levels planned for The Maw News

Xbox 360 News by Oli Welsh

27 January, 2009

Xbox Live Arcade developer Twisted Pixel has told Kotaku that it's working on three new levels for The Maw, to be released as DLC "over the coming weeks".

The levels will be framed as "deleted scenes" in the style of a DVD extra, and slot into gaps in the cartoon action-adventure's story. They'll be available to download individually for 100 Microsoft Points (GBP 0.85 / EUR 1.20) each.

The levels are called Brute Force, River Redirect and The Speeder Lane. Twisted Pixel says the levels' release will be staggered, but doesn't have any dates yet.

The Maw was released on Live Arcade last week, and it made Dan Whitehead giggle.

For a very short game adding 3 more levels making it a 1100 game for the full thing still seems a bit steep.

I loved the game, although it was short, very enjoyable though. Will buy the extra levels without doubt.

Level info:

Brute Force will fill in some missing moments found between and original game's second and third level, the team told me. In this level, Bounty Hunters have sent in members from their new elite strike force, the Brutes, to stop Frank and Maw.

In River Redirect, which occurs after the original game's sixth level, Frank and Maw have to change the course of a rive to reopen their path past a raging fire.

The Speeder Lane level will take place after the original game's seventh level and has Maw and Frank stealing a Bounty Hunter Speeder and using it to break through a blockade.

Not really, it was 800 points for 8 levels which gives an average of 100 points per level. And even with the last level being incredibly short I personally still found the whole thing more than worth the money. If these levels come with new special creatures to eat I'll definitely be getting them.

It was a really well made game for that amount of money so I have no problem paying for new content. No matter what the content was and for what game though, there's always gonna be someone bitching about the pricing.

I played pretty shitty and ended up at position 26000 in the leaderboards, so it's looking good.

I really like this game - it was like kameo only more interesting. XBLA has had a good year with this, braid and portal all appearing on the service in the last 12 months - I do wish that a few more arcade games would turn up though although the iminent outrun release combined with the megadrive ultimate collection will probably appease that particular want

so in summary Good Stuff!
