I'm not very good at geography, maths, or counting, but isn't 100 square miles a square ten miles by ten miles? How do they make 1000 miles of course out of that?

100 miles x 100 miles = 10,000 square miles.

Someone's maths is wrong. And it's bar-har, due to the Mehican influence.

edit: oh wait, it's probably a 10x10=100 square miles area, with 1000 linear miles of tracks threaded through it. That'd work.

Bah, in Le mans 24 hours on the Dreamcast, back in the day, races could last... 24 hours. Lose.

A race lasting four hours? I doubt many will be up for that. At least you can upgrade the various parts of the vehicles though.

I think it's the new Ferrari Challenge game, that's allowing just that. All I remember is that the article I read said that the creators recommend opting for the condensed 24 minute race, but you could still attempt the mammoth 24 hour version, if you so chose.

I just got into "MX vs ATV Untamed" http://www.eurogamer.net/game.php?game_i...
last night strangely, which I thoroughly recommend to anyone with a fun-muscle. (Eurogamer hasn't reviewed it oddly)

Fans of Midtown Madness would do well to look toward it, as well as those interested in Sandboxy experiences.

It has one of the best online implementations I've seen. (Waiting-room environment to play and test vehicles in whilst the game loads, Winner chooses next event etc)

Right you are. I couldn't recall which game it was, but it is indeed GRID (which should be brilliant, irrespective). In the career, you'll play 24 minutes, but in the Free Race option, you can set Le Mans to its 24 hour endurance testing version, reveals my brief research on the official Codies forum.

Sorry to take this further off-topic, but how does a 24 hour race in these games work? Does it expect you to race the full 24 hours yourself or, as is the case in real life, will you 'share' the driving with other drivers and do it in stints?

Why would anyone want to have a 4 hour race? This isn't a realistic race game, it's an arcady one. Can you imagine a 4 hour motorstorm style race? It would come down to the winner being the guy who didn't log off ages before the race finished.

I remember an old game on the PC called Rally Championship from Magnetic Fields (creators of Super Cars on the Amiga among others things) which had races that lasted upwards of 30-40 minutes. The game was excellent for its time but the length of the rallies made it very demanding as one mistake 20 minutes in could cost you the race, not to mention piss you off. Realistic, yes, but not perhaps the best way to make a fun game. I'd imagine any game that has 4 hour races will allow you to save mid-race so I doubt it will be a problem but keeping it interesting so you'll complete it might be.

Maths 101:

100 square miles = 10 miles X 10 miles.

100 miles squared = 100 miles x 100 miles.
