THQ submits 50 Cent to BBFC News

A BBFC rating for 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand has all but confirmed THQ as the new publisher.

The game was was awarded an 18 certificate for containing "Strong Violence", based on code submitted by THQ International. Ooh, cryptic.

This follows recent goings-on in Australia, where the game was stamped with a 15+ rating for similar THQ-submitted code.

50 Cent: Blood on the Sand was dropped by the wayside when original publisher Sierra (Vivendi) merged with Activision earlier this year.

The timely arrival of the BBFC rating also suggests we may see the PS3 and 360 game as soon as this Christmas.

50 Cent: Blood on the Sand, a sequel to 50 Cent: Bulletproof, is a third-person shooter built on Unreal Engine 3 and set in the Middle-East.

In the game, hero 50 and band G-Unit are given a diamond-encrusted skull as payment for a gig, which is later stolen from them as they try to leave the country. This brings about all sorts of ghetto revenge. And songs.

We're waiting to hear back from THQ.

so not only is this game still coming out, its almost ready as well?

Lets hope its released in the next couple of weeks so it gets buried amongst the real games that are coming out

Storyline seems a bit strage. Didn't like the first game, controls/camera was a pile of shit.

Perhaps I would be shooting myself in the foot... And if the game somehow turns over a 10/10 score (better than Halo?) then perhaps I'd be tempted to rent it... But if this game gets 10/10 then the universe will probably implode.

Do you think Tetris would have been so popular if it had been called Hitler's Tetris? I'm not saying they're at all similar, I'm just pointing out that a "celebrity" (infamous or otherwise) has a significant effect on how a game they're associated with is recieved by their respective fans/haters.

hitler is the most hated man in history and 50 cent is one of the biggest recording artists in the world. hitler's tetris probably wouldn't be a big seller, no! the thing is, though, i don't think they're just aiming for 50 cent fans with this game; the premise is deliberately ridiculous, as is the choice of protagonist. now, i'm not a massive 50 cent fan, but i know i'd rather play as him with a set-up like that than any of the generic action games around at the moment. look at games like fracture - are you telling me that's more interesting? at least with 50 cent you're guaranteed amusing character design.

There's more to a game than simple gameplay mechanics. If you think 50 Cent is a swollen-headed imbecile (which many of us do), then the odds on you enjoying a game pandering to his gangsta fantasy are pretty much zero, regardless of how well done the cover system or enemy AI is.

did you not read my post where i alluded to the game's potential for appreciation on the level of morbid fascination? you should! blood in the sand appears to be a hot pop culture explosion of the sort we don't see enough of - like him or not, it's a pretty interesting premise for a game and one that you don't have to be a fan of the guy to want to play.

i mean, unless you like the whole space marine thing, i guess that's cool. personally i'm pretty starved of original set-ups in my action games.
