I always got the impression that like 'Mercenaries' on PS2, Destroy All Humans was a game 'too big' for the console it was living on.

It had great potential, and the gags were a laugh, the sci-fi references witty and relevant, but somehow the engine, whilst satisfyingly pyrotechnic and great for representing what was going on, didn't really have quite enough 'oomph' to do the concept justice.

'Path of The Furon' presumably being a nod to 'Path of Neo' with its kung-foolery?

So long as it is better than the San Andreas attempts at including 'special fighting moves', I say bring it on (by turning my palm upwards and gesturing with all four fingers together).

I don't see the potential in either Mercenaries or Destroy All Humans as big franchises with multiple sequels. They're just not that special. In other words, this news does nothing for me :)

Respect to them for doing two versions. It takes longer and costs far more, so nobody else does it, but it's about time somebody did this so that we didn't end up with a 360 game that's just a PS2 game in HD and a Wii game that's just a PS2 game with crap controls (well, this one might still be true). Fair play to them.

lol.

I don't know what made me persevere with Mercenaries, but the interesting breadth of the missions, and the fun of tooling around in a warzone somehow made me plug hours and hours into it - sort of reminded me of GTA2, where different gang territory met, there was invariably armed conflict. It shared the 'gang popularity' meters of that title, too, where you could either be popular or hated by the various military factions in Mercenaries, and this would affect whether you could pass through their territory in a pickup truck, or if you needed a tank.

It was a game with aspirations - the airdrop and airstrike stuff, picking up soldiers and taking them to fight their enemies, land and air vehicles - a great degree of freedom in how you approached missions. Even I don't think it carried it all off perfectly, but was a solid sandboxer.

Destroy All Humans sort of reminded me a bit of it... I suppose I'm just hoping they can get the open-worldness of it right, and that they might be helped in this with the 'extra power' of next-gen consoles.

Screenies for the 360 version are in this month's OXM, graphics wise it looks fooking terrible :/
It looks like someone's description above, a high res version of the PS2 effort.

"Destroy All Humans! Big Willy Unleashed"

Will this be published by Gamecock perchance? ;)
