News Xbox 360 PlayStation 3

Out in autumn 2009 on PS3 and 360.

Atari has confirmed most of the details leaked in a video over the weekend concerning a console version of The Witcher.

It's actually subtitled Rise of the White Wolf though, and it's due out for PS3 and Xbox 360 in autumn 2009.

Speaking at an event today, where the publisher confirmed it would continue with several of its dormant properties, Atari said the original story is in place but the rest has been rebuilt from the ground up.

This includes a contextual combat system of the kind described by game designer Jakob Stilinsky in the leaked video. Check out our previous report for more detail.

Two years after the game originally came out... I owned this on PC (courtesy of eurogamer.de), but gave it away as I never play on PC anymore. Will prolly get this on the 360 then though.

The Witcher is a great game. Think of it as a mature Fable 2 with a lot more depth. A LOT. I can't wait to see what the console version will be like, I might get it. Haven't finished the PC version (Enhanced Edition) yet though.

Agh and I bought another version of Witcher the Enhanced Edition for PC! What worse I havent got round to playing it yet and not many game to date on PC despite having second upgrade in a year.

Consoles ruined my former Spectrum/Amiga/PC gaming habits.

Fantastic news, The Witcher is an incredible game and hopefully if done correctly, will work well on consoles. I have it on my laptop but it doen't do the game justice, cannot wait for this

I upgraded a year ago and expect to be playing games decently for another year at least. all this suggests is your first upgrade wasn't done very well...?

I can play it with medium - high settings on my iMac (Core 2 Duo, 2GB RAM, 7600 GT), if you have something similar or better it's worth picking up. Should be very cheap now anyway.

I often looked at the cover for this game and thought to my self, "Damn this game sounds great, I'd love to have this on my 360, but it'll never happen, even though it looks like it would make the transition fairly well..." *Places game back on shelf runs home crying and locks himself in the room"

But now, well, in autumn, I can leave my room again! YES!
