Graphically, that looks nice. First Simpsons game that actually looks like an episode of the Simpsons (imo).

I think this game is gonna be crap, the only saving point is the cel shaded cartoon look and feel.

Some animated shows should be left as animated shows, these dont translate well into video-games.

I'm looking forward to this (no surprise there)
I would like to see a reworking of Hit and Run, as that was a great game albeit to many identical missions, but for fans of the show I thought it was a great effort.
I have no problem with plagiarising any media as long as it is done well and does at least have a few novel twists.
I agree that the cell shaded style is by far the best I have seen the Simpsons look in any game (about time)
I have always loved the style, thinking of Crackdown and Thirteen.

It's EA.
It's Simpsons.

I shouldn't be interested in this game... but I am? I really am.

Conclusion paragraph whiffs of 6/10, 7/10 perhaps depending on the way in which the wind blows.

"Repetitive enemies? You can get away with it when you point out it's a cliché!"

You can if you do it and it's funny. A lot of the best Simpson's is pointing out cliches.

"It's EA.

He he. If Comic Book Guy doesn't spend the entire game saying that the game sucks because a)it's EA and b) it's a license then it'd be a massive missed opportunity. :)

Why no PC version? By the way this is looking really interesting. But it is no game for kids - only adults can get the humorous undercurrents of the show

Familly Guy was a very self-aware video game, with lots of references to other games and it's own production. And that was shit.

It seems this game has a little more polish than Family Guy and an arguably better history, but it still seems like a boring game with the TV show cast badly glued on. All gameplay videos so far seem to be dull, and I wouldn't count on it being very good.

That doesn't change the fact that the Simpsons has always been marketed to kids.

Why are The Simpsons yellow?

Matt Groening (creator of The Simpsons) decided to make The Simpsons yellow because it was different, bright and "it looks like there's something wrong with your television set." So now you know.

Someone forgot to have his coffee... the writer sounds cranky.

Seriously, what is with the mindset of Eurogamer writers recently? Still tired from E3?

The simpsons mostly have an audience of late teens, 20-somethings etc.
why does EA always make kids' games and then glue-on Simpsons characters?

I'd rather play a Simpsons game based in the SIMS2 engine, it could potentially be fun, if all the SIMSpsons had an AI that resembled their behaviour from the show.

Virtually stupid Homer working in a nuclear powerplant. It's potentially a lot of fun,
unlike the idea of superpowered Simpsons who 'fight enemies'.
Plus, it could make the SIMS series seem at least a bit more acceptable to
a male audience :))

Seems like the writer of this preview didn't much like what he saw/played..? Too bad, because I kindda like the idea of a game parody (in Simpson's universe, no less!), to me it's a sign that our beloved medium is getting slightly more "mature". How else can a game (properly) parody other games if not through gameplay? And why would that be bad? After all; isn't, for instance, every 3D first-person shooter after Wolfenstein 3D it's parody with a "straight face"? So, yeah, I really don't find upcoming Simpson game's "core idea" a sign of developer's laziness. IMO, of course, if that still needs to be stressed:)

Damn, you reminded how bad the Futurama game was. But I'll never trade it in, just because it's Futurama. We were lucky to get a game after the way Fox handled that show...

*crosses fingers that new episodes of Futurama will be just as good as the old stuff*

This game looks not bad though, co-op has me interested.

The new version of The Bard's Tale did parody of game/RPG-cliches extremely well. Certainly well enough to overcome the somewhat repetitive (and unbalanced) combat. Sometimes good writing CAN lift an average game up to greater heights.
