The Saboteur gets December release date News

PC Xbox 360 PlayStation 3
News by Ellie Gibson

22 July, 2009

Electronic Arts has announced that open-world action game The Saboteur will be released on 4th December.

The Saboteur sees you taking on the role of Sean Devlin, an Irish race car driver who misses the last ferry home and ends up trapped in Nazi-occupied France. You'll get to explore 1940s Paris as you derail trains, blow up zeppelins and generally f*** with the Nazis' s***.

Combat involves powerful weapons and good old fashioned fisticuffs, there's a unique film noire style to the visuals and the plot involves some nonsense about revenge. The Saboteur is coming to PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 and you can find out more about it over on the gamepage.

I love the visuals in this game and I think it has a lot of potential, but I don't have much faith in Pandemic these days -- their last two or more games have been pretty awful. Hopefully this will be a chance to redeem themselves. A demo would be nice though, as there are already plenty of games I want at Christmas, and this might slip off my radar otherwise.

I was one of the few (probably) who enjoyed Mercenaries 2 so I have high hopes for this. But December?! Talk about bad timing.

I have to say, full marks to EA for publishing this kind of thing. Their shift to being a rounded publisher instead of just churning out the same old tosh has been swift and well-executed, even holding their ground to stand behind titles like Dead Space and Mirror's Edge when they didn't blow sales out the water.
