With this and Mafia 2 coming out at least it looks like we'll be getting a good skull cracking and kneecapping simulator this year!

I quite liked the 1st game, this one sounds interesting will have to see how well the new "board game" elements are implemented.

Really? I don't think that's accepted at all. It pretty much is. Really. Your personal opinion might differ, but The Godfather is famous for being one of those extremely rare cases where the sequel was better. edit: Look, from the very first place I checked (Timeout): "Coppola's superior sequel to his own very fine Mafia epic "

Of course there is an argument.
The original Godfather is better than the second - that's not fact, but my opinion, and many other people's opinion too (as evidenced by the IMDB scores, Metacritic rating and Rotten Tomatoes rating). The argument's a but pointless though, because despite this glowing preview, comparing this decidely average game to one of the greatest film (series) ever made is ever so slightly embarassing.

2 is better than 1 - F.A.C.T Obviously, there's twice as many. Unless it's something like "number of places your arm is broken in" or "number of times you were shot" in which case 1 is probably always better than 2. @Mogs Hive opinions are warm safety blankets for weak personalities. Your metaphor neglects to to take into account that the game and movie are both based on the same story and have the same name, which is the most important part.
edit: And of course it was the article that we are supposed to commenting on that compared the shoe and the chair in the first place.

Has anyone else noticed that these "Hands on" articles almost always give a game a glowing report? I can't actually recall the last "Hands on" article that slated a game. I'm not really one for shouting "CONSPIRACY!" but personally I tend to take these articles with a pinch of salt these days. Perhaps it's simply that the publisher/developer involved is ensuring that you don't get to see the tard parts of the game so it's bound to look good?

This game looks good. The films were boring yawn-fests. All 3 of them. The many MANY hours I spent watching them is time I'll never get back.

Strangely, the only hands-on I can recall that gave a less than glowing-report was Fallout 3, which ended up getting a ten and EG readers' GOTY.

Fine, a shoe and a sock then. ;) OK, perhaps I was being too flippant but my (very poorly made) point was that as games, books and movies are such entirely different forms of entertainment that I don't see there being much point in comparing, for example, a book to the movie of the book or to the game of the movie of the book. I mean sure they're the same story (well, usually, depending on the adaptation) but the experience of watching or reading or playing them is so different that comparing them at all seems largely meaningless to me. |

If Mafia 2 is even half the game its predecessor was then it will absolutely crush Godfather II in terms of quality.
