The Godfather II for February 2009 News

PC Xbox 360 PlayStation 3
News by Robert Purchese

8 August, 2008

EA has finally officially revealed The Godfather II, which will be released on PC, 360, and PS3 in February 2009.

The sequel begins after Michael Corleone appoints you Don of New York. The challenge will be building the most successful family in Florida, Cuba and New York.

This, as we previously told you, will be handled using a strategic perspective dubbed The Don's View. Here the entire world can be looked down on, enabling defence and expansion of your empire, plus a view to what the competition is up to.

Key to success in The Godfather II will be running the family, comprised of Made Men specialising in various fields, such as those highlighted recently: demolitions, arson, engineering, first-aid and more.

These underlings can be grouped and tackle missions on their own, or hand-picked to escort you, as you explore new combo, pressure, and execution systems.

"Running an organised crime family in a world defined by family loyalty is something that we felt could introduce a new strategic element to the genre," said Hunter Smith, boss for The Godfather II.

"The Don's View is so unique it could fundamentally change the rules of open-world games by blending action and strategy to create something entirely new."

Look out for our preview of The Godfather II soon.

Not a Liota time to go then eh?

edit: I'm failing myself! I'll leave it there though to show my shame, was in too much of a rush to find a funny pun... we need a goodfellas, then maybe I'll try to recycle it.

I'm sold. The first game was really good. I loved the little tutorials that explained how you could get rid of the heat. Maybe John Ritticello [spelling?] was right. EA seems to have turned a corner.
