The Beast wins fighting game World Cup
Daigo Umehara takes Street Fighter title.
Daigo "The Beast" Umehara has successfully defended his Street Fighter world championship crown after a 3-1 win over Ricky Ortiz in the final of the Evo 2010 tournament.
The victory cements 29-year-old Umehara's status as the greatest fighting game player of all time.
Umehara, from Japan, used Ryu to beat USA's Ortiz, who played as Rufus, in a hotly contested Super Street Fighter 4 final in Caesars Palace Resort, Las Vegas.
The match was watched by thousands inside the hotel and over 30,000 online via streams. The tournament itself saw over 3000 signups, making it the biggest Evo ever.
Last year Eurogamer interviewed the elusive Umehara, who said: "I don't have a particular plan or idea of how I want to be, but I do have an idea of what I don't want to be. If I could maintain my skills into my thirties and forties, I wouldn't mind continuing to play professionally. But into my fifties, as I start to see my physical abilities go downhill, I would not want to be jealous of others."
Pictures of Umehara's victory can be found on Kineda.com.

It's a good little spectator sport as well with the commentators. Although one of them clearly has no idea what he's on about.
