TGS: GT5 Prologue this year
In Japan, anyway, says Hirai.
Sony worldwide boss Kaz Hirai has announced that Gran Turismo 5 Prologue will be released for PSN and Blu-ray in Japan on 13th December.
The news escaped from his Tokyo Game Show 2007 keynote address, which finished just moments ago.
However, no price was mentioned for the game, nor was a date for US and European versions.
Gran Turismo 5 Prologue is a taster of what to expect from the full GT5 package sometime in the future. It's got shiny cars, online play, and a handful of courses to try out.
Sony's grand plan is the release the racing game on both PlayStation Network and Blu-ray disc, although the difference in content is also yet to be confirmed.

It's getting freaking Top Gear episodes and an online componant a first for GT (a little overdue but still...) if this is half arsed then I'll need a fresh wardrobe of pants for GT5.

I am not a 360 fan boy, I own a PS3 and I am pissed. Back to PC gaming for me and Team Fortress 2!!

"wow quadruple post and it's not even 9am yet \o/"
Pity none of the four had any value whatsoever. Next time, have some breakfast first.

Everything else is pure candy!
That's all I can see and think about. Great that they get out an early version like this, because the Gran Turismo games are so ridiculously large that waiting for them until they are finished is just not very efficient.
Much better like this, and now they can work with user input much better also, maybe prevent making mistakes or neglecting features that we need to have in the final game.

Are you telling me you are willing to pay double to be a beta tester. Thats pretty much what it comes down to. The game is unfinished so you can believe this payable version will have a lot of unfinished elements. Personally I would rather wait for the real deal then a chopped up version to generate interest in the PS3.

However, even if I did own a PS3 I'd be pretty annoyed at having to wait so long for what is a fantastic series to appear on my flaming machine. I'm pretty sure it'll be better than Forza2 (and so it should coming much later) but by then I'll have had great value out of a game which currently leads the pack.
Polyphony = slow IMHO.

Top Gear used to be about cars?!
"It's taking the piss making people pay for a demo of a game they will have to buy again."
Calling GT Prologue a demo is stretching the truth a bit too much IMO (based on details that are currently available). And those people "made to pay" do so out of their own free will.

You should be happy then, shouldn't you?
