TF2 revelations due soon

Valve progress report.

Valve says that Team Fortress 2 is "really moving along in development", adding that daily playtests are an office highlight.

"Things have reached a point where people start getting pretty antsy around the office as we get closer and closer to the 6:00 p.m. playtest session," the dev said in a message released through Steam.

"We will be sharing more information about TF2 over the next couple of months, and we'll make sure to point that out to people here.

"We've included an illustration of some of the TF2 characters here that is currently being used for the start-up screen for the game." Ditto. In case you're after some wallpaper.

Last week the developer admitted that Team Fortress 2 - along with mother-game Half-Life 2: Episode 2 and fellow add-on Portal - would be released this coming winter.

Does anyone know if this is just a cosmetic update of TF or is it a "proper" sequel?

The art style reminds me of XIII by Ubi Soft.

This is multiplayer only right? Why is it taking so long?

Come on. It doesn't exist! I saw this thing YEARS ago at E3, about the same time I saw the last Duke Nukem Forever demo.

Why does Valve have to wait for Ep2 to release this or Portal?
Portal I can understand as it looks more like a series of minigames that would sell better as a bonus to Ep2 (and add to its bundle value), but TF2 will have, and probably already has, a dedicated fan-base that makes it possible for it to stand on its own.
I just can't understand Valve's decision on this. Too bad I can't do much about it.

That said, I hope they don't mess around too much with the gameplay from TFC. Class balance is great and each plays almost perfectly.

I really like the look of this one. Might even start playing online when this comes out. And as it is part of the HL2: Episode 2 package for PC, I am going to buy it anyway.
