Tekken 5: DR Online tomorrow News

PlayStation 3 News by Robert Purchese

7 November, 2007

Sony Europe has said it will sprinkle Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection Online onto the PlayStation Network tomorrow.

This, you may remember - like falling off a swing - adds an online versus mode, online rankings, a practice mode and a survival mode.

It will cost you GBP 14.99 if you buy it all in one, but if you listen to our Dickensian (as in David, not Charles) advice you could make a saving.

Buy the original Dark Resurrection PSN title for GBP 6.99 and add the Online Component for GBP 3.49 and you keep four-and-a-half quid to spend on an expensive pint of Belgian beer or flowers if you are Pat.

To enjoy this amazing bargain, however, you will need to buy the original Dark Resurrection game right now as in today, because come tomorrow it will be gone.

Why would you want it at all? Well, it is quite good, as Richard Leabetter will tell you in our review.

I'll gladly update, as soon as I can, which is, unfortunately, more than a month from now, so I'm gonna be late to the party :/

@moriss: Don't

Yeah but VF5 RRP at £50 and Tekken at £15, or £6.99 if you get it today

YES! At fucking last!

Nice heads-up on the pricing, EG. Is there going to be a T5:DR Online review?

Wait... it's cheaper to buy the parts seperate?

That business model is alien to me. :O

£3.50 is a great price for the online mode I feel, glad I downloaded the game when I did rather than waited as it's obviously nearly a fiver more expensive now.

@Steroyd - From tomorrow, the £6.99 Tekken 5 DR won't be available, you'll only be able to purchase the online component for £3.49 or the full game for £14.99.

I take it the patch doesn't include DS3 support, does it?

Oh snapplecakes, I'll trade in my PSP version for Crushed and get this then is the online worldwide play, will make this decision that much sweeter.

Don't worry if it doesn't support the DS3, SeesThroughAll, rumble in fighting games has generally been pretty ham-fisted and doesn't add anything to the experience. I generally turn it off, and I'm both a big fan of fighting games and a big fan of rumble in other genres.

I'll download it as soon as a I get home so as to save the difference. It'll be the first time I've bought a Tekken game since 3.

@ Steroyd: Sony are releasing the DualShock 3 with the added rumble funtion.

The online component in TDR looks better than Virtua Fighters.

Was a little disapointed that you could only open rooms with 2 people, the best thing about DOA, SF2HF and now Tekken DR is the fact that you can fight with a couple of spectators looking on and just have a good chinwag. Plus VF5 didn't have much in the way of extra options eg winner/loser stays on tag team etc.

Surely, in an online fighter, timing is critical so the last thing you want are spectators hogging your bandwidth? :?

Some annoying orange skinned guy who does one of the bajillion bargain shows on terrestrial TV (I think he's on ITV now) his catch phrase is "cheap as chips" ...I so want to kick that guy in the nutz. >:(
