"Technical difficulties" hold up GT5 Prologue PSN

Sony responds.

Sony has told Eurogamer that "last minute technical difficulties" are to blame for the absence of yesterday's expected PlayStation Store update.

Gran Turismo 5 Prologue was supposed to go on sale, alongside a demo of UEFA Euro 2008 according to EA, and the new Grand Theft Auto IV trailer.

"Unfortunately due to some last minute technical difficulties, we were unable to publish the new content to the PS Store yesterday," Sony told us just now.

"We are working to resolve these issues and will let you know as soon as new content is posted."

The platform holder has not said whether or not we will see the update today or later. So fans of GT might want to go outside in the rain and buy the Blu-ray version instead.

Would have been nice to have this sorted by lunchtime.

Instead, it's a trip to the shops in the rain I guess!

I'll wait. That way I don't have to take COD4 out to play GT!

The online version should be cheaper, if it's not then I'll take a disc anyday.

Last minute techincal difficulties. It's the first time that they've tried putting something on the PSN Store in europe. It's like their Heathrow Terminal 5.

It seems the work experience boys sony brought in to run the euro PSN store are pulling through. Not only do we hardly get anything when we are due something half decent they screw it up. Bravo sony, you again you remind me why im not paying for PSN (not that i EVER would in its current form!!)

From what I have seen this monring most shops are selling it cheaper than PSN so the rain has just stopped here I'm off to buy a nice shiny physical copy to add to my library.

You could have had all my money Sony now you just get a cut. Sort yourselves out.

EDIT: And I shall sort out my typing

I ordered the disc version as it was cheaper, but while Gameplay have done their duty in shipping out the game yesterday morning, Royal Mail as usual have managed not to deliver it, despite first class postage. That's alongside a CD of mine ordered a week ago, and I suspect there's more packages waiting too. Two sets of review code from different companies sent by recorded mail have gone missing in the past 3 weeks alone. No idea what else that wasn't recorded went missing (aside from the fact that one of those two recorded was already something being resent).

Update: Royal Mail decided to do a second delivery for me today via van, providing me with GT5P, my CD, and an unexpected copy of Dark Sector, so I'm actually rather happy now. Doesn't quite make up for those two missing copies of DMC4, though.

I put the disc in nearly an hour ago, it took 40 minutes to install and do the BD update, now the downloadable update is just hanging - if this is what console games of the future are going to be like, you can count me out! this sucks balls. My whole lunch time has passed and I never even got to have a go...thankfully I am not working ATM, so the concept of lunch is largely redundant! but still its the principle...!

Someone left the GT5 demo out in the rain
and I don't think that I can take it
'cause it took so long to bake it
and It'll never have damage modelling again
    Oh, no!
  • Dante_Cubit #19 4 years ago

Ah... they don't call it the Delaystation 3 without reason.
  • ParanoidZombie #20 4 years ago

Wow, i guess the full version of GT5 will take like 40 hours to install.
  • dynarama #21 4 years ago

    Perhaps they're adding in damage?
  • ScarboroughKID #22 4 years ago

Anyone know how much the disc is at GAME instore? I need to trade some stuff in.

It's Sony's idea of what console games of the future will be like certainly. ;-)

Being serious though, can you not just disconnect from the internet in order to play the game without the update?

  • Stuz359 #29 4 years ago

Bought it from my local asda for £20. For that I get a box, a disc, a manual and no waiting ( apart from the install but that did not take that long ). Why should I download if I can get a physical copy?
The game is good stuff anyway. The london track looks particularly ace!
