Team Fortress 2 Pyro patch this week

And a Free Weekend to try it.

Valve has prepared a fresh dish of Pyro updates for Team Fortress 2, which will be served to you this Thursday.

Wafting their aroma up your nostrils will be three unlockable weapons as well as 35 new Steam achievements for the class - you must earn a certain amount of these to extend your arsenal.

The Pyro is the second class to be given a seeing to, after the medic got some fancy new guns earlier in the year.

On top of this, Valve is chucking a pair of user-created maps in to show you what your friends have been busy making.

While you wait for that, Valve is readying a Meet the Sniper video for release later today. These often contain humour.

Last but not least is another Team Fortress 2 Free Weekend this week to give you a chance to try out all the fresh bits.

There's no word on if and when these updates will come to consoles.

    But I have TF2 for the 360. :(

    Alas!

    Excellente.

Do love the pyro I do.

Although they should release a couple of classes a time to stop people just going for one (the first day of the medic patch was chaos).

Begin your speculation as to what the new pyro weapons will be.

There's a new Axe weapon called the Axtinguisher or something

*sigh* I only have TF2 for the Xbox 360, however that became more quieter than a ghost town after a few weeks. However this isn't to moan a lose, its to come up with crazy ideas about what the new Pyro unlocks will be.....

I'm betting some sort of +1 Mace made completely out of fire J/K

As I've started playing Pyro quite more often as of late, I can't wait for this patch. :)

Does this free weekend mean I can download the client and play for free all weekend? I don't know how it works... Not used Steam before (and maybe never will, what with my bank charging £5 to convert from dollars...

Hooray, now we have another couple weeks of pyro achievement grinding to sit through! We'd only just got over the grind of the medics.

I note, with some amusement mind you, that going by the steam tf2 tally, only 1.8% of all tf2 players actually got the third medic unlock and hence the ubersaw. I wouldn't really call that very effective personally. I sincerely hope they have thought their achievement/unlock strategy through this time. They say they have but, well, Valve... say no more.

Also, the one of the unlocks for the Pyro is the Axtinguisher, a barb-wire encrusted axe that crits if it hits a target already on fire. I can't wait to get killed by weapon switch exploits with this.

I really want these to come to the 360. PLEASE make it happen!

    seasidebaz: One word: PayPal.

Also the Axtinguisher does half-damage normally, but a guaranteed critical hit when the enemy's on fire.

I suggest you get a new bank then seasidebaz, sounds pretty bad if they charge you for that.

What a load of crap achievements are.
  • Waffleaber #14 4 years ago

Ooh, I haven't played TF2 since the medic achievments came out but pyro was my 2nd favorite class so i'll be giving this a go.

Now then valve give him molotov cocktails and some kind of short range/high critical hit blowtorch please.

Couldn't care less about the achievements - and only play medic if nobody else will. Will not ever play sniper or spy classes either..

I actually like achievements. No, I do not like them enough to fanatically pursue completing every single one of them, but completing one does give me a sense of... well, achievement, what else.

I remember completing those medic achievements that I thought were impossible right in the middle of a round without realising it at first.

Meet the Sniper is already up, and it's facehuggingly awesome.

    Sniper's got some parent issues.
