Tatsunoko vs. Capcom heading West News

Wii News by Tom Bramwell

19 May, 2009

Update: Capcom has told Eurogamer: "It's coming to Europe. We'll have more details to announce at E3."

Original Story: Capcom's Wii crossover beat-'em-up Tatsunoko vs. Capcom has been officially confirmed for the West, albeit only the US at this point.

The game, which brings the likes of Ryu, Chun-Li and Viewtiful Joe together with characters from the Tatsunoko Productions anime stable, came out in Japan in December.

In the US, it will be known as Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All Stars, and Capcom has said that it will be available for hands-on play at E3 the week after next - 2nd to 4th June.

This also fills in one of the blanks on Capcom's E3 schedule, which is known to include two unannounced games - now one.

Writing in the Tatsunoko vs. Capcom comment thread on the publisher's blog, US PR boss Chris Kramer said Capcom had "no plans to put the game on PS3 or 360" in answer to excitable posters.

We've contacted Capcom in Europe to find out what's in store for us.

Tatsunoko is a japanese Anime company. most of the cartoons are not so pupular in the west, however I do recognise some caracters from a cartoon I used to watch and love in the early 80's called Battle Of The Planets (or G-Force the later versions)

This is great news. I've always been sick of the whole "Europe/US tastes are different so we won't release this or that over there" - and then they have region lock outs to really make it hard to get on these shores.

When a company actually decides to release a game like this in the west, I have to commend them. It obviously will never be a big seller like Wii Fit and will probably sell less than most shovel-ware, but there will always be fans of such games over here and they'll all sell if released in the right quantities.

With films you arn't limited to Hollywood blockbusters - you have a choice of many different types of movies from all over the world. The same should be the case with video games - it's good to see Capcom setting an example on this.
