Take-Two confirms early 2010 line-up News

PC Xbox 360 PlayStation 3

Take-Two has confirmed that it plans to release four major titles in the first half of 2010. BioShock 2, Max Payne 3, Red Dead Redemption and Mafia II will all see release between the start of February and end of June 2010, chief executive Ben Feder told investors.

"We are continuing to evaluate the optimal release window for these titles and still plan to release all four titles in the first half of calendar 2010," Feder said, according to GameSpot. "At this point, we don't expect any of these titles to launch within our first fiscal quarter ending January 31, 2010."

Most of these games were originally planned to see the light of day in 2009 - notably, BioShock 2 was originally slated for a late October or early November release. Announcing the delays earlier this year, Take-Two said the games needed longer in development and that it was seeking an "improved retail environment" - suggesting that it was one of many publishers running scared from the release of Modern Warfare 2 this Christmas.

Of the four games, we know plenty about the BioShock and Mafia sequels, but the two Rockstar games - dark western Red Dead Redemption and, especially, Max Payne 3 - remain rather elusive. So confirmation that they'll be seeing the light of day in the first six months of next year is welcome.

You'll find more information on the Red Dead Redemption, Max Payne 3, BioShock 2 and Mafia II gamepages. All will be released for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, except Red Dead, which is for the consoles only.

Bioshock, Red Dead could be cool. 2010 is already pretty nice.

I wish publishers would actually think and see we ALL don't want to play Modern Warfare 2. I don't want a blank slate for 3 weeks either side of its release.

I'm not touching that rubbish with a bargepole, either. Not even the most robust and purposely constructed bargepole, especially commissioned and intensively tested by the very bargepole factory, with the express designated intent of staying the hell away from that rubbish - not even then!

I'd very much like to see some Max Payne 3 media, though. That'd be nice, and Mafia 2 is also on the radar as that looked very good on a GT showing. :)

Why not play a game that has been released which you haven't played instead? New does not necessarily mean good.

anybody elese here sick of hearing things like ' optimal release window ' and Smaller form factor and other crappy jargon ? why cant they just say we'll release it when it makes most cash or has no competition or the new PS3 is in a smaller case .? blah blah blah blah blah blah blah .

PS insin' Dave . dead right , you can pick up some games from asda that cost less than XBL games . not always good but at least its a real game. its much cheaper to pretend its last year all the time , all your games are dirt cheap and they've probably been patched into a working state .

@YobRenoops: There's still plenty out around October and November other than Modern Snorefare 2. I myself will be getting Borderlands and Left 4 Dead 2 which I expect to take up a lot of hours.

On topic, I'll be looking forward to Bioshock 2 and Red Dead Redemption early next year.

I really want that fat old balding Max Payne to be a joke and Rockstar to say, nah, we were just kidding, he's still cool. Not that fat old balding Max Payne will put me off buying it, I still have faith, no matter how fat or bald he may get.

glad to see publishers have learned the hard way to spread release dates out more.the sales on these games should be massive with no halo or cod to take away the limelight

That a monster like Bioshock is scared of MW2 is kind of a big deal, really.

Is there any point in anyone else launching a game this Crimbo?
