Super Smash Bros. delayed

In both the US and Japan.

It's official: Wii exclusive Super Smash Bros. Brawl has been delayed.

In Japan, the game will now be released on January 31st instead of the 24th as originally planned. In the US, it's been delayed by a month.

SSBB was supposed to be out there on February 10th. However, a new post on the game's official website reads, "Due to delays in the completion of Super Smash Bros. Brawl, we've had to change the release date of the game to Sunday, March 9th.

"I deeply apologise to the people who have looked forward to playing the game for so long and ask that you hold on just a little longer. Thank you for your patience."

Nintendo has never announced a European release date for SSBB. Last we heard it was due out in Q2 this year, but that might have changed now.

Still, there are plenty of videos and screenshots to enjoy in the meantime - head over to the gamepage to take a look.

ah, so it's only by 5 days then in Japan. I wonder why that pushs the US dates back a month, it'll probably push the european release back a year knowing good old NOE, who'll tell us they are doing a proper 'british english' translation then just release the US copy and hope nobody notices.

Given Nintendo's recent track record, they've probably delayed it because one of the characters calls you a spastic if you lose.

I wouldn't mind, but they haven't even announced a PAL release date yet.

A week in Japan = A month in the US.
A month in the US = 6 months in the UK/Europe?

The European delay is absolutely outrageous.

    Bastards.

If I don't get this before the end of Q2 someone will pay.

It'll be September at the earliest knowing NOE. We don't mind waiting, honest!

It'll be out May 2008 in Europe, thats my guess anyway. Mario Kart will be out September now.

Autumn release for us that's for sure. Man this game has been pushed back and back for so long now...

    I hated it when they delayed Metroid Prime 3 and Mario Galaxy for so long over here ;_;

Fuck that shit. US Wii all the way. Noticed how the EU isn't even on their radar?

The games industry (Nintendo europe/UK especially) needs a wakeup call - at least to the culture of a country like the UK. They'll sell more units here if they simply use the US game and sell it to us after a few days.

The UK needs no translation - I don't really see what the excuse here is, but it's harming their sales.

They've delayed me buying a Wii until March at least, and if I can't get hold of a US model, then god knows when I'll grab one. they've not even mentioned a release date for this damn game!

    Fools...

    Hold on...!

1 week delay in Japan? So how much of a delay in developing the game is this REALLY?

It screams bollocks the more I read it, as whatever the big hold up is, it only amounts to 7 days worth of extra work if they'll have a Japanese copy out on Jan 31st.

What the fuck are they playing at when it comes to UK releases?

So much for global releasing, the console it's self is about the only thing to live up to that claim!

Brawl is going to be the lowest selling game in Europe ever, just you wait. It'll come out in the US acompanied by a PAL release date six months down the line. Mass importing occurs. When the release date comes about 5 people actually buy the PAL version. But seriously, buy a modchip.

Hmm... Would you chastise Angelina Jolie for arriving late on a date? (And I don't mean chastise in some freaky S&M kind of way.) No! No. You. Would. Not.

But I suppose... if this upsettingly nerdy analogy was stretched beyond its elastic limits, Jolie would have been late because she had been sleeping around with better looking more important people than you. That damn skank!

What were we talking about again?

If this game isn't around for the summer, someone is going to have to die. Painfully.
