Glad you've finally decided to review some iPhone games; there's clearly going to be a lot of these in the days to come. Your review does indeed echo my own experience, and I put the blame for this firmly with Sega, for not properly embracing the tilt sensor. It would seem perfectly intuitive to expect a sideways tilt to produce movement in this direction, but this is obviously not what happens. It's a shame, as from all other perspectives — as you point out — it does a very accomplished job, and it looks very polished.

One game that definitely needs reviewing is Texas Hold'em; easily the best I've seen on the iPhone so far, and one I still play very regularly.

On its first full charge? Surely that wouldn't be representative... rechargeable batteries take a few charge/discharge cycles to develop their full capacity, no?

Cheers for the review, I'll keep holding off from buying it.
Please, please, please review Dizzy Bee - it's ace and only 2 quid.

Great shame. I wish they'd changed the design to a top-down game, with a camera that's locked above the ball and does not rotate.

Then it would be just like your iPhone was an actual marble maze game.

I should have probably read all the stuff first, but are the reviews written taking the price point into context?

Actually... I suppose they're no different than XBLA games etc.

Actually, you do get used to the controls. I absolutely hated them at first, but am improving bit by bit. Other places the game falls down though include the way you lose all progress when you get a call, surely there's not that much state to quickly save? Anyway, I'm glad I bought it, since I'm still working my way through the levels (only just made it to Desert). Interested to see if there are any bonuses for getting crowns and that since I've never actually played any of the earlier monkey ball games to be honest.

I have to say I was very excited about it and got it on the first day of release - Alas I hate the controls. It just doesnt do it for me. The original Gamecube had such sublime control that this really cant match up. Im sure others would disagree and some say you get used to it but for me the control isnt quite there.

It does look great though and as the review points out shows what the iphone is capable of in terms of graphics. Think Ill stick to the DS and PSP for my gaming though. Im still not writing off the iPhone for games though as Cube Runner and a couple of others are kind of fun to while away a tube journey particularly if you dont have your handheld or heaven forbid a good book!

Cube runner on the tube is indeed fun, ads a whole new source of difficulty to the thing.

You should try Labyrinth Lite Edition then, which is free... and curiously addictive
