SupCom heading to 360 News

Xbox 360 PC News by Robert Purchese

13 November, 2007

Gas Powered Games has revealed that Supreme Commander will be heading to Xbox 360 early next year.

It will be ported over by developer Hellbent Games and be published by Aspyr Media - the same team responsible for Guitar Hero III on PC - rather than THQ.

The 360 version will be given exclusive units, updated maps, new multiplayer modes and a revised control system and HUD. Chances are you will be as excited as us to have a machine that can do the game justice without needing an upgrade, too.

Supreme Commander is a real-time strategy game from Total Annihilation mastermind Chris Taylor. And while unashamedly hardcore and a little daunting to get used to, it raised the bar in the genre and only narrowly missed out on top marks.

Pop over to our Supreme Commander PC review from earlier in the year to find out what it is all about.

Meanwhile those of who do have powerful enough PCs should be looking forward to the standalone expansion pack Forged Alliance, which will be out on 23rd November.

Supcom has the longest battles I have ever played in. 1 mission takes about 3 hours to finish!

I may just be shit.

Excellent news; with this and WIC, the strategy genre will be well represented on consoles. Yeah! :D

My machine could run it, until you got about an hour into a game by which time it had slowed to a crawl. Dunno how I would like playing an RTS with a gamepad though...

Will definitely get this if the implement mouse and keyboard support. RTS games DO NOT work with a console controller. Stop trying.

The original game really stressed the CPU more than the graphics; the expansion significantly upgrades the graphics to really bring every piece of your system to it's knees. How this will play on an X360 will be interesting.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!

It sooooooooo kills my PC when the game gets bigger... dual screen emulation on a 16:9 telly would be killer too :D

no doubt that it will be dumbed down to a degree. I cant see how a joypad would allow you to flit accross the battle field and generally react quick enough when all is chaos?

This sounds like it could be really good. I know my computer has got no chance of running the PC version so will be interesting to see how the 360 handles it.

Just hope theres some way to get mouse & keyboard support for it - well unless the pad control system is really good.

I know the pad works for some strategy games, but how the HELL could it work for this? This game is so micro-heavy that ease of control is the most important part. World in Conflict? Sure. Supreme Commander? No goddamn way.
