Sucker Punch doing InFamous sequel?

Actor lets cat out of bag via Twitter.

Rumours are swirling that a sequel to PS3 exclusive InFamous is on the way.

It's all thanks to actor David Sullivan, who posted the following message on his Twitter page: "First voiceover / motion capture audition today for a videogame. Re-casting of Cole in the sequel of Infamous. 'I'll melt your face.' e.g."

At least, G4 says that's what he posted - the message has since mysteriously disappeared.

However, he has issued a response to a question about whether there is indeed a sequel on the way: "Not really sure. Would be very cool if there was and I was a part of it."

His latest post reads, "Thank you all for your interest and your support. I will continue to keep you updated on things I book which are, in no way, private." Whoopsie.

Sony has so far declined to comment on the whole thing, unshockingly.

I hope so. After playing the demo, i wasn't too keen on the game, but during the summer video game drought, i picked it up and after playing the full product, i actually liked it. So hopefully a second game is in the works.

I thought the first was a very good title, I'd look forward to playing a sequel...

inFamous was very good but let's have a bit of AA next time round please guys? ;)

    Sly racoon too please :-)

Given the ending of the first one a sequel was more a "when" than an "if"...

I would like to see a totally new Infamous. Go for the Final Fantasy approach and have a new story for each game. Not finished Infamous yet so don't know if it ends with Cole having all his powers, if so isn't he going to have to mysteriously lose them all for the next game?

    Indeed, it sounds very Metroid-ish.

OR... They could throw in time manipulation... Wasn't the final boss Cole's future self?

    @ Psiloc

That's exactly what I was thinking. I wonder if the guy who played Cole first time round knows he's being recast too?
  • Darknight #11 2 years ago

@Britesparc this IS they guy who played Cole first time 'round. Makes sense that he would be picked for the part, but the fact that he had to audition makes it sound like they may be re-casting him anyway.

I really enjoyed the game, story was a bit crazy but I found the combat quite satisfying especially when you make the effort to string together stunts. I really, really hope they get some anti-aliasing in there next time, it was distracting as hell.

I would rather have a Prototype sequel.

Was inFamous even a 720p game? It looked pretty upscaled to me! Good game, but crappy graphics...
  • Marshall2008 #15 2 years ago

Infamous was ok, the sequel could/should be a good game. Just stop treating the player like a 4 year old with the good/evil elements.

Why in the name of sanity do management do this crap. Why is it a secret that there is a sequel to Infamous. The story of the original pretty much spells out a trilogy. You don't see movies doing this "It's a secret that we are doing a sequel" nonsense. It doesn't increase demand or anything like that and would actually benefit the stupid prats as people would know when to expect part 2, 3 etc. etc. and actually get more excited (mass effect is a good example of doing the sequel thing right).

    @Seethroughall

Cole gains his powers in part 1. it's an introduction of the hero. Consider it like superman i.e. he doesn't mysteriously loose his powers from one comic to the next, though he may well discover a few more he didn't know he had or evolve a few like proper flight etc. etc.

Given the ending to the first game, I'd certainly expect a sequel to be on the cards!

I actually really enjoyed Infamous - certainly one of the best games I've played this year; it's the only PS3 game so far I've felt compelled to get the Platinum trophy on and I'd still love to see more of it!

I really enjoyed it too, not played it in a while, but must find that missing shard.... only one to find in three map areas :|.. then i can replay it.

Am I the only one who was disappointed by this game? ALL of the side quests were a chore. (Don't vote me down just because I don't like a game that you like.)
  • man.the.king #20 2 years ago

Infamous was a very good video game, and somewhat surprisingly, I started to care for the characters as well, including that of the "usually thankless" best friend - actually, that was a very pleasant surprise, no character was given short shrift or just side-kick status. And the ending was badass!

Definitely hoping for a sequel here, and if/when it comes out, a sure-buy for me.

People are right on this one I pretty much agree that the sequel was more of a 'when' more than and 'if' especially after that great ending . Really enjoyed this game and for me one of the better games this year. Like someone else said I hope that they don't make him lose his powers and have to go on the process of gaining them again make him learn new ones that would be great and not to spoil story here but if the last boss was anything to go by Cole has yet a lot to learn hehe.
PLEASE NO MORE DYING ON WATER on the sequel.

I rented InFamous on a whim and enjoyed so much I felt compelled to play it through twice to see what the differences there were between being good and bad. Although I would say some of the side quests were a bit annoying, like the 'Get the cameras of my house' ones.

When the squeal comes out I might actually consider buying it instead of renting it.

If they don't go for the whole time travel angle, I'm guessing Alden will make an appearance as he is still kicking around. He will probably turn up even if they do move through time
