Street Fighter IV specials uncovered News

Xbox 360 PlayStation 3 News by Robert Purchese

30 January, 2008

Street Fighter IV appears to feature super cancels; a mind boggling procedure where you cancel a special with a super. Makes perfect sense.

Evidence comes from a sequence of screenshots given to Eurogamer which show Ryu slamming his fiery balls into Ken.

Fans should be able to spot the enormous fireball immediately following the initial small burst.

Those who have no idea should concentrate on the facial expressions of Ryu and Ken, the warring would-be brothers who trained at the same dojo once upon a time and were also portrayed as two con artists in the rubbish film.

Street Fighter IV aims to take the series in a new graphical direction. It features chunky 3D models and scenery but good old 2D fighting.

The game is due out on 360 and PS3 sometime in the future, hopefully later this year.

Is that the film were Guile beats them up in a bar.

I think thats a bad thing, it just makes it easier to completely destroy someone with a super special, On EX you used to be able to do that and then add a super special hurricane kick as well.

On Super Turbo most people couldn't combo super specials and especially not when jumping in.

This game is looking really strange in a disturbing way. I enjoyed Street Fighter 2 as much as the next man back in the day, but this looks disappointing.

This looks rubbish.
Hardly surprising though, I've yet to see a version that's better than SF Alpha 3 (which is a PlayStation game FFS).

Hopefully they won't include a shitty hip hop soundtrack this time and a bunch of weird new characters.

You could have at least got the shots in order, this is clearly a flykick, sweep, fireball, super combo. And the sequence starts halfway through the super!!

-1 for attention to detail!!

AGREED!!!! SF3 is the technical daddy of SF games...... Alpha just didnt have the same depth for me. still great tho and 10 x's better than EX.

@DarthCheesiest

It was possible to cancel special moves and go straight into super's in SF3 3S, which didnt break the game, so I can't see it turning SF4 into an unbalanced mess.

Totally agree thats one of the things that ruin even Mortal Kombat for me, the excess and multiplication of moves. and Mortal Kombat was my Fav game on snes save International Superstar Soccer.

I have no clue what half of you are talking about - the last SF game I played was SF2:T! I have to say, I really like the look of this though - theres just something about the graphics that feels right. But as others have said, lets hope they don't add a load of crap characters just to fill it up.

Guile for me again............

Looking more and more ridiculous with each unveiling.

Hate the art style -- especially the gormless expressions. And why do Ken and Ryu have half a dead deer for each foot?
