But if they changed it completely then it wouldn't be SF, at least there's focus and ultra combos (which look amazing) They have added the trial mode for newcomers and generally made the game more accessible for all, added new characters and 3D envrionments, I wasn't suprised to see it score 10, and the reviewer is not alone, i've read reviews from other sites/magazines that gave it a perfect score.
Don't like it? then don't buy it and move on, I for one can't wait for Friday! |

Aww hell. Looks like a number of other people I'm going to have to pick this up now this week, I'd hoped to leave it for a month or two, but with 10 and that review I can't help it. Really glad to hear that Street Fighter is back to its epic status, sounds like this could be a strong GOTY candidate already. Really looking forward to playing it.

Ok, I'm excited for this too. But 10/10 just feels like it's heading for a fall. I would never give a game 10/10, and the review is overly fanboyish (and I saw this as a lover of all things Capcom, I imported X-Men vs Streetfighter and Vampire Savior on the Saturn for heaven's sake). Come on, some constructive criticism, surely? The new characters really don't fit the design aesthetic at all, it's true. I'm flabbergasted there isn't character specific stages, a hallmark of Street Fighter. They add so much, well, character!! I'm guessing that's an upgrade waiting to happen. But so long as the core fighting is there, I guess that is what's important. Ach, who am I kidding, I'm psyched too :D
And I'd have been disappointed with a 9/10. Haha :D It all just seems too good to be true! |

PC fanbois haven't got a fucking clue about fighting games. They generally just haven't worked on the PC.
For one reason or another, there have either only been shit fighting games, no fighting games or shoddy, unsuitable controls for fighting games on the PC. A PC only gamer would have a distorted perspective on them. It's all about the Arcade/ Neo Geo, SNES and the Mega Drive / Saturn / Dreamcast. The PS2 was a nice catchup console for beat 'em ups if you missed them on the formats listed. Nowadays, MAME and GGPO can do the job to a certain extent when coupled with a Dual Shock or better pad. |

Really.....? That seems strange.... All the stages that Ive seen are reminiscent of the originals. IE. Gulies Aircraft runway, Blankas Brazil 'jungle' level, Chun Lis China street scene with chickens and Balrog/MBisons Vegas level with pimped out rides. Are these not character specific anymore? TBH I dont really care as Im just stoked about getting it Fri - Hopefully it'll be delivered before that! |

Update on SFIV arcade-status in japan: Sadly, noone plays SF4, and havent done so since the game was released in arcades last summer. (Observations based on arcades in Kansai-area + Tokyo) Its all about the Tekkens, and to a certain degree, the VF, GGXX, SF3s. I also hoped SFIV would be good news for arcades in japan, but no, sadly not. |

I've always preferred using Japanese voiceovers with subtitles to the English version, It normally sounds too contrived as English voiceovers from a transliteration. I'm liking the way they say you can choose per character, though, thats a cool little touch there!

I believe the article mentions you can set the jap/eng voices on a per character level. That's awesome!
Also, somebody mentioned that replays were going to be added with the ability to save them. Seriously, I've been wanting that feature since 1992. Was disappointed it wasn't in SFHD, and gutted it wasn't mentioned in the review. Anyone got a link to the promised replay info? Cheers! |

Yep it was announced as DLC: * Replay Mode – Record, upload, and download top matches to share with the Street Fighter IV community. Players can analyze top tiered fighters matches, leave voter feedback for others, and share their own triumphant victories. * New Points System - Two new points systems to measure your skill (Championship and Tournament Points) * Enhanced Tournament Matching System - Skill level matching system offers improved tournament match making for beginners and mid-level players. Ryze Akuma wasnt in SFII was he though? I do have SF II turbo though(the 5th iteration) which apparently is his first appearance(he's the unlockable though so thats probably why I hadnt seen him before Capcom vs SNK2 but never saw anyone pull off his special untill recently I guess) , I still dont like that blackout though. :p
Ive been meaning to give the 2d fighters another go on Xbox classic(liked Marvel vs Capcom2 and GGX2 reload), still got the Streetfighter Anniversary Collection, Capcom vs SNK2, King of Fighters 02/03 to play through yet.

Hai to that..... Arcades over there are awsome.... they still have that acrcade culture going.... I miss it! Yep mushi musih, and given they have theme parks and we have Trocadero aka the Sauna, they win hands down. Not to mention the competition there is fierce, VF - don't even bother taking on the winner. :/ |

gotta say being the owner of both consoles I have opted for the PS3 version because if the d pad but know that PSN will be rubbish online. just as well its got legs offline

Ive been playing this for a couple of days now. Its not only the best fighting game i have ever played - its probably the best game i have ever played.
