Stranglehold map pack soon

Ten new maps for PS3/360.

Midway has announced that both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 owners can expect to download a map pack for John Woo's Stranglehold in the near future. Providing they bought Stranglehold and want some downloadable content in any event.

The map pack, announced overnight, "will be available soon in North America via the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live" in Midway's words. A European release in a similar timeframe seems very likely. We tried to get hold of Midway UK this morning to confirm that, and see whether it's coming to PC as well, but we've yet to hear back.

The pack consists of ten new multiplayer maps (including "Kowloon Market", "Wong's Estate Grounds" and "Rooftops of Chicago") and 21 new multiplayer character skins. Xbox 360 owners can also look forward to ten new unlockable Achievements worth a total of 250 gamerpoints.

Stranglehold is an Unreal Engine 3-powered third-person shooter that follows in the narrative footsteps of classic John Woo/Chow Yun Fat action film Hard Boiled, and sees Inspector Tequila diving, sliding and generally exploding his slow-motion way around detail-packed environments in an attempt to either solve whatever crime it is he's up against or kill everyone involved - whichever comes first.

We really liked it, with Kristan remarking that it "might well be the most direct, straightforward action game you've played in years". The multiplayer wasn't one of his favourite elements, but perhaps that will change with the advent of the new map pack. Find out when it appears on Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation Network soon.

Hmmm there are so many other games out right now that are so much better online than this one, still... seems to be a nice lot of content, pricing?

I quite like Strangehold. The single player mode might be shallow as hell but it's fun and exciting in small bite sized-chunks, which is how I am... was playing it (with so many other games having come out since, I had kind of neglected it somewhat). The multiplayer mode is dull though, mostly because the Tequilla Time feature is restricted and the game just doesn't feel as enjoyable against devious human players as they're harder to kill. Ploughing your way through 50+ enemies in the space of 5 minutes offline is how this game is best played. Thus these maps are of no interest to me at all. Stranglehold's online mode feels needlessly tagged on, much like The Darkness' was.

Its a shame that whenever I go onto this game online, no one is playing :( Maybe this will make people play and perhaps help me get some of the online achievements on this game :)

Dunno about MP, every time I went online to play some matches there was no games available.

I'm assuming that this will be free then, seeing as it comes with 250 Achievement Points, and it's M$'s policy that DLC with new Achievements must be free, I believe?

I'm sure this'll benefit the people who play it online.

    Both of them.
