Harvest Moon was a game totally screaming out for a sequel, it's disappointing he's effectively precluded any chance of us seeing one now.

Given the poster's handle, I suspect some kind of deceptive posting as humour attempt on his part...

3 should be the limit - it's normally where a particular game hits the sweet spot. The first game tests the waters, the second improves the formula, the third perfects it, then after that it gets tired. I call this the Megaman Theorem.

I can only think of the Mario Bros franchise which goes against it (it just carried on getting better and better after Mario Bros 3 with Super Mario World, then Yoshi's Island.)

Argh, and Resident Evil.. (4 was better than all its prequels.)

Alright fine, shut up.

Never happen. Sequels are less risky commercially. They'll kill off the industry through shortsightedness before realising creativity is the answer.

Devs will stop relying on sequels when gamers stop buying them. And there ends the mystery.

People like familiar stuff for a reason: It's much less risky. Don't see that part of human nature ever changing.
