Still Life 2 demo available

PC crime thriller.

Developer Microids has released a demo for PC adventure game Still Life 2.

The 1GB file is available from GamersHell and samples the dual-heroine storyline split between FBI agent Victoria McPherson and kidnapped journalist Paloma Hernandez.

The full version of Still Life 2 is already available in German, and can be downloaded from a special, Metaboli-powered retail site. We're trying to find out when the English version will be released.

The first Still Life launched for PC back in 2005, but had rather a lot of errors and a bit of a half-baked story, resulting in half-baked marks: 5/10. Our Still Life review can tell you more.

I want their Syberia III to make it to consoles. it seems the game is being developer on PC right now but the developer is facing financial issues to fund a console outing... what a pity.

Wow, I didn't even know there was a sequel in production. Sweet!

As long as there is no baking this time around...

Mixed feelings about this demo. Glad we're getting a sequel though!

I quite liked the atmosphere, but feel the environment graphics are a step back from the last game. Also, getting tired of flat unemotional badly lip-synced 3D characters in games. Here's hoping Heavy Rain might be a step in the right direction for 'virtual actors'.

I kind of like the idea of the limited space inventory, but wish it could be backed up graphically in-game, rather than the disappearing/reappearing large items. Not so sure about having to find somewhere to place smaller items though, while you pickup larger items though. It's a nice idea in principal, but surely there must be a better way than a grid-slot inventory...

    Half-baked!? Shit baking puzzle!? lawl.

It really ended on a cliff-hanger, so looking forward to the sequel, eventually.

Ok, so they don't like Sony. Why haven't they switched over to the Xbox 360 then, for their console version???

    @Freek

I have no idea mate but it seems to me they want to release the game on all 3 platforms PC/PS3/360. They just dont want what happened to Syberia II on the PS2 (not being allowed in the US) to happen to Syberia III it seems. They dont want this on PC/360 only unless of course a publisher picks it up which would be happy with only PC/360. Eitherway, at least we will get it on PC.

    EDIT:

Aghh, scratch that. it seems they want to release the game on PS3 and PC only going by a previous announcement

Now, I am really not sure anymore.

My mom wants this! Release it in English! Fast! Or she'll never stop calling me!

I played the demo over the weekend and liked it a lot. But the ropey 3D environments are a definite step down from the attractive pre-rendered backgrounds of the first game, and the voice acting is not good.

Just tried the demo, but it seems I picked things up in the wrong order and I couldn't drop the mattress again. Couldn't be bothered to start all over again and sit through the painfully bad cutscenes, so it's been uninstalled now.

That's what I was on about. Simply drop the mattress in the cupboard, *obviously*, so that you are free to pick up other things... ;) Kinda breaks the whole reason for having a 'sized' inventory. I can imagine that every location will be littered with places to 'drop' your larger items while you fill up on small items... *sigh*

I tried to drop the mattress into the cupboard, but it wouldn't work. :/
  • WangFu #14 3 years ago

ah, thankfully I didn't make the same mistake, just assumed it would've worked. In which case I think your solution was the best bet.

"Ok, so they don't like Sony. Why haven't they switched over to the Xbox 360 then, for their console version??? "

Yea, does seem a bit odd that, especially given that the first Still Life game also came out on the Xbox... but not the PS2.

    Your review was WRONG! :)

@TheVoice: Yes, that was more confusing than the puzzles. You've got to click the top-left corner (where the hand is) to drop the item into the wardrobe. Seemed quite fiddly.

The voice actor behind the reporter needs a new job that doesn't involve talking, like a mime or something :)
