That actually looks nice, it has a good art style to it.

Ah, that's a pleasant surprise. Still annoyed about the motion thing. 1:1 ftw.

I think if people aren't going to moan about wii graphics, they need to be nicely stylised.

This looks good, ought to be interesting to see how well they get this to work if the lightsaber is the number 1. focus.

I'm not too convinced that will be what it looks like on Wii, but the Clone Wars art style is nice.

Looks pretty in game to me, unless they're cutting down the concept artists budgets now.

Please to explain htf you will be able to use the wii to meaningfully control the lightsabre when the view is side on?

I am guessing they will cheat and just use precanned moves driven by gestures.

Absolutely spot on graphics, if compared to the Clone Wars cartoons that they're styled on.

just wondering whether General Wotsisname will be a playable character...
and how you'll be able to control 4 lightsabers at once :-)

The dream: swinging that sabre like the greatest Jedi ever.

The reality: looking like a demented orangutan undergoing electroshock therapy.

Yeah, I'll have some. :)

I reckon you're probably right. Sounds clumsy.

It's based on the Clone Wars CG film/series then? Same style.

I don't have a Wii so it's irrelevant to me. However, I think THIS is the game the Wiimote was made for and if they do opt for pre-canned moves based on gestures, then it's one of the biggest gaming disappointments. Bit of an exaggeration, maybe, but I sure hope it is 100% motion based.

When the game is out I'll let everyone know if it's as much fun as my real lightsaber ;)

One thing if always wondered about, say by some miracle you do get a real lightsaber. You are probably going to want too hold on to it. But what if it's activated and the on/off switch breaks... hang it upside down from the sealing or something.

There is no other way to do it. Controller limitations aside even if you could control a lightsaber perfectly on the wii with a remote you still have one major problem. Blocking

Say you attempt to cut someones head off, imagine a clock flat, 3 o'clock to your right, 12 o'clock in front of you and 9 o'clock to your left, you start the move at 3 o'clock and finish the move at 9 o'clock, however the move is blocked on screen at 1 o'clock. Your weapon on screen is now at a different position to where your controller is which causes a problem. The weapon cant suddenly snap to where your controller thinks it is as it would just look a mess on screen, you could also cheat with some impossible moves and would just end up waggling the remote around with no skill at all. The other option would be to move your controller back to where the weapon is on screen but again while this is happening you wouldnt be able to block yourself. Imagine how much of a mess this would be in multiplayer.

Gesture is the only way to go, doesnt matter if your move is blocked

bumhug if only more people actually thought about things rationally like you my friend. We'd have less of this incessant moaning about every Wii game with a sword in not being 1:1.

This may have been mocked up for print publishing due to the resolution requirements of print. That is to say that it is using the same assets that will be in the wii version and the same rendering quality but rendered on a PC at a much higher resolution than the final game.

we are never going to get a 1:1 light saber/ sword fighting game until they start selling force feedback holodecks.

Or, you know, actually look nice like MP3 or Zelda or RE4. Oh and please don't let my point tragically escape you by trying to go for the "those last two are cube games".

As for the long ass rants about how 1:1 sabers can't happen: dare to dream a little why don't you. Snapping to position works perfectly fine if it's not done too quickly. Hell, if you're in the position of blocking a blow, you'd sooner pull back to strike again instead of moving someplace completely away, so it won't be much of an issue. And maybe when two sabers push against each other the game could temporarily could go into a sort of different mode where the goal is to push the other away? Whatever, there's loads of things you can come up with! Don't be so boring and uncreative. If you keep trying to make up excuses why things won't work, you'll never have any fun in life.

Indeed. ^ Or you could have a system whereby after a block you need to pull a trigger to cause you player to re-sync/snap to the position you are currently holding it.

Ignore that actually. Just remembered that The Clone Wars series takes place between ep 2 and 3, and GG dies in episode 3.

To be fair, the only thing that's going to stop a lightsaber is another lightsaber.

if the wii remote has been past the position of where the lightsaber was stopped, then the lightsaber will continue to try to get there, pushing against the other one

I reckon it would be possible to get 1:1 lightsaber effectively, but any other type of blade wouldn't work.
