Red Alert 3 PC expandalone in March News

PC News by Tom Bramwell

8 January, 2009

Electronic Arts has officially unveiled Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 expansion Uprising, which will be a standalone add-on exclusively available for PC gamers via digital distribution in March.

Following on from the events of Red Alert 3 (and what events they were), it offers four mini-campaigns - one for each faction and a bonus one focusing on Yuriko, the Empire of the Rising Sun's commando.

There's also a Commander's Challenge mode, where you can fight against nine commanders from different territories and difficulty levels in 50 challenges with special rules and conditions.

Senior producer Amer Ajami promises "more cut-scenes featuring top-notch Hollywood talent", in case you were wondering, with Gemma Atkinson and Ivana Milicevic confirmed and others yet to be announced.

Oh, and more of the same gameplay with new units.

You can get your first glimpse of Uprising in the lone screenshot released by EA today. Expect more very soon.

I hope the digital distribution they mention is Steam, because I won't be installing any other digital distribution method on my PC, especially not an EA one.

There I was thinking "no DVD in-shop release? Boo" and I didn't even stop to consider that point JonFE. I utterly hate EA's attitute towards the PC recently, and as much as I love Red Alert 3 I do not trust them here. What's going to happen EA, are we going to only get three downloads or something?

No GamersGate, and no Impulse? Sounds like utter madness to me.

Woo more Gemma Atkinson - I cringed with every line she spoke in RA3.

Whereas you could tell the other actors was playing it for laughs, she was just pure wood.

The DD will be EADM, so I wont get this in case I need to reinstall in 6 months and 1 day, as I'd have to pay again for the privilege, and using this method I cannot install it on my dads PC for the off-line only gaming he enjoys with dial-up.

Its things like this that drive people to pirate, which I won't do, as I play online once in a while, but if not, well it'd be more tempting, especially if in 6 months and 1 day my HDD failed, after buying the product.

Two-thirds of the way thru the Empire of the Micro Sun campaign and loving RA3.

Atkinson is utterly, magnificently awful. But here's hoping Cdr Lisette shows up again...
