Standalone GH3 guitars dated
Should be early 08 for all.
Activision has said that stocks of standalone wireless guitars for Guitar Hero III will be made available across the US in "early 2008".
Activision UK couldn't comment directly on when we would see those here, but the publisher's US and UK timetables are usually fairly similar.
At the moment, the only way to get one of the new wireless guitars for any format is to buy it as a bundle with the game - a bit like the situation frustrating US consumers of EA's new Rock Band competitor.
However, unlike Rock Band, Guitar Hero III certainly is compatible with past Xbox 360 and PS2 controllers for those versions.
Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii versions of GH3 are based on Gibson's Les Paul shape, while PS2 owners get to pick up the Gibson Kramer. They all have detachable faceplates too - a bit like mobile phone ones, except sort of defensible.

I even unscrewed the whole guitar to see if there was a problem but to no avail. This is so fecking annoying especially on expert and many songs chug along on the green button. Any hints or news I haven't heard? GAME said they'd replace but takes me ages to get there. oh, and any news on faceplates for these babies?

Mine was the same, I've read loads of stuff on the intarwebs about it, I took it back to GAME, they refused a refund but offered an exchange, I didn't want to swap it for another one that's probably going to be faulty too, so after a while of arguing over Statutory Rights he gave in and refunded me for store credit, I was going to buy GH III solus anyway, just using my old wired guitar with it
@J.C
I've played Guitar half my life, big fucking deal.
I can also drive a car, does that mean driving games are stupid?
I can shoot a gun too, does that mean FPS games suck?
It's meant to be fun, not a guitar simulator.

(most the expensive gubbins is handled by wiimote - bluetooth, motion sensing, etc)

The Wii version is cheaper than the ps3 etc, and you get more funtionality, and don't need to buy anymore batteries!
Seen the faceplates on some american site, but they didn't look too good.

by $10.
It should be LOADS cheaper, as the guitar itself is really only just a shell - no real electrical gubbins needed.
