Looks fantastic, although it's now competing with COD4 over the most visually arresting game to be set in "The Zone".

Looking forward to seeing this in motion even though I will only be playing on DX9.

Man the first game was awesome, I am playing for the second time (this time on XP not Vista) and it rocks. Great weapons, awesome environments and superb suspense.

Like the article says I hope they keep to the date and manage to get a publisher involved.

It's one of those immense mining machines! Fantastic, always wanted to have a gunfight on one of them. Keep at it GSC.

I really liked Stalker at the start, but it rapidly tailed off and I finished it feeling disappointed.

My bugbear was the level design. I just thought they had this fantastic canvas and not a lot of it was used. The level design was really boring apart from one or two missions, but none really stand out.

Plus they can hardly say they were rushed.

Good that they're working on this instead of concentrating on patching Stalker. :(

Ironic title, what with it not being very clear.

Stalker was great and I really look forward to this. Having got the backbone done, I'm hoping they can add a bit more finesse to these. My major problem was really the patchwork set up to the zones and some funny mission triggering behaviour. And a rather abrupt and surreal ending in my case. Perhaps I should play it through again though because looking at these screenies makes me miss it.

GOTY 2008. Well, if Stalker is anything to go by. Absolutely loved it.

NPCs in particular look a lot better now, the environments didn't need much work, anyway (although they are improved as well).

wtf? Why are some comments dated July '07?

Also, I agree with wattoo; level design can be improved considerably. And NPCs should be able to talk in real-time or at least interact via a better interface. Still a superb franchise to play at any rate.
