SSFII Turbo HD Remix priced News

PlayStation 3 Xbox 360 News by Tom Bramwell

21 November, 2008

Capcom has announced that Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix will cost 1200 Microsoft Points when it launches on Xbox Live Arcade next Wednesday, 26th November. That's GBP 10.20 / EUR 14.40 in symbol-rejecting old money.

Writing on Capcom-Unity, the publisher said the PSN version would retail for about the same - USD 14.99. It also said that the game would be out there on 25th November, which is a Tuesday, and not in a traditional Thursday berth.

Before PlayStation fans start tossing their caps in the air and having knees-ups, however, it should be noted that Capcom yesterday declined to comment on European plans and the blog post overnight mentions "standard international price adjustments for overseas PSN stores when it eventually arrives" (our emphasis).

We'll let you know when we hear anything more official about the Euro PSN date. It can't be that far off, mind you, since they've already sent us the game. It's very pretty. Bertie's not very good at it.

Too much for me for a tarted-up version of a game I've played a thousand times before.

It's not just a tarted up game, it's the only PS3 Street Fighter game coming out apart from SF4 next year.

I'm in a dilemma, There's the new Tomb Raider today or wait for SSF2 THDR. I think I'll just get SF, because I've wanted it more than anything. Plus I've not completed GTA4 which I must do to justify the TR purchase.

"It's not just a tarted up game"

Incorrect. It's a SNES game with HD graphics pasted on top.

Street Fighter has always been the game that takes the piss with prices. I remember many moons ago how Street Fighter II, Street Fighter II Turbo and Super Street Fighter II were some of the most expensive games on the SNES. And this after being one of the top sellers around the world.

Some things never change.

I'll wait for 4 then. Don't want to get overkilled on SF again before that hits.

That is a little bit more pricey than I had imagined but still, I think Ill indulge! To think that I shelled out £100 for the Jap import on day of release back in the SNES era! £14 doesnt seem so bad!!!! Hadooooouken!!!!!!

I was expecting it to be 800mp and have been very keen to get it but at 1200mp I'll give it a miss. It's far too expensive for what you get considering Bionic Commando Re-Armed was only 800mp and offered a lot more.

Considering the time this has been in development I'm not surprised at the price.

...and to those saying its a old game you've played before, its the same only in name. Apart from the completely new artwork its totally re-balanced and is online too.

I wish more XBLA re-makes had this amount of attention lavished on them.

I still blame Street Fighter of making a generation of kids gay.

Those 2 guys in the skimpy pyjama's screaming 'i'd-do-ken.'

Not to mention the green guy with the dyed hair and his love of ankle bracelets.

And the less said about the Russian bear the better.

Since I have the original on my 360, this will be for my PS3 and as such I'll be able to use my Hori stick which you can't see under the dust.

Also the D-pad being better on the Playstation goes without saying... but I said it anyway.

If I was to buy it Id get it for my PS3 as opposed to my 360 just as the pad is easier for me for beat em ups. But as the first post says, this is WAY to overproced for something so old no matter how tarted up it is. PLUS you have to think that fans will have bought the original SF2 for £6-7 anyway. So its a con.

Personally I think the prospect of network play is worth the price alone. Finally a chance to kick peoples arses all over the world :)

This is way cheaper than I expected - thought it would be 1600 at least considering how much work has gone into it... All those comments about "tarted up"... *sigh* I pity you really. Even if this was just Super Turbo, it would be worth it for the improved net code alone.
(Also, Super Turbo was never on the SNES btw).

Cheaper than expected. Games are way too cheap these days. This is a must buy to me.

edit: beat me to it Remy. And yes this version has never been on a console before.

Can pay 15$ but it has to have trophies, this game was like "forever" in development and x360 gets achiev ofc, so if PS3 doesn't get trophies its a no buy for me....
