SSFII Turbo HD Remix for PS3 on Thurs News

PlayStation 3 Xbox 360 News by Robert Purchese

18 February, 2009

Capcom will finally release Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix on the PlayStation Network tomorrow.

And you'll need to fork out the stiff asking price of GBP 11.99 or EUR 14.99 to play.

SSF2THDR was worth the money last November, when the game launched on Xbox Live Arcade, but largely because eager fighting fans wanted something to fill the void while Street Fighter IV geared up for launch. With Street Fighter IV arriving on consoles around the world this week, we wonder why anyone would settle for second best.

Head over to our Street Fighter IV review, or our Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix review, to find out more.

FINALLY!!! Indeed!

Bit late, mind, I mean I'll have the PS3 version of SF IV by then. Ah well, at least it does have a release date at long bloody last.

The 360 version was 1,200 MP right which is £10.20 (I think) so why the price hike for the PS3? And what's the reason for the three month delay in the first place?

"SF IV is only £15 more FFS... Why bother? "

Because it's an awesome version of SSF2T?

I know I've had it since November on 360 but it will be played as well as 4, it is SSF2T with online play after all.

Well if SCEE weren't so damn incompetent, or if they aren't, appear as such then PS3 owners would have lapped this game up as Xbox 360 owners did last November.

But as usual, for whatever reason, European PS3 owners typically have to wait months for certain major PSN release even though the 360 and US PS3 owners get them around the same time. Why? It can't be the usual excuse of being delayed for European translations since European Xbox 360 owners got their version in November, right?

Thing is, give it a month and somewhere like Shopto will do SF4 for something mental like £20... if you're not dying for the game, thats the best option.

If they'd done that RedPanda, anyone outside the original 8 SHII characters would be paid for DLC at £5 per character.

They don't care though, clearly. If they did, they'd have tried to speed this through.

Darren: The case here is really that Capcom or the developers are incompetent, SCEE will stop a release if there is something wrong with it. If they fix the release obviously it will be released on time. Other devs have accomplished this.

Also they should have discounted it due to the wait or alllow SF4 PS3 CE owners a cheaper rate or free to make up for it.

It'll be interesting to see whether their are any improvements over this version when comapred to the US one as if there isn't we waited for nothing.

@YobRenoops & disc - So was this game buggy on the Xbox 360 then?

And just why is the PS3 version more expensive anyway? Yeah, it's only a couple of quid but surely it should cost the same as the 360 version or, preferably, less since we've had to wait so long for it?

Well, I have this game on DC so I don't really see the point in getting it again. Maybe when my finances are better I may pick it up for nostalgic value, but with SFIV coming my way in the next day or two I, like many here, can't justify the expense. Where the blame lies for the delay is clearly up for debate. From what I've read on the forums here the game was buggy on both versions on it's Nov 08 release.

@ Darren

There were bugs on the 360's version but they weren't as bad as the PS3's. At least Capcom managed to submit a passable version to SCEE, just a shame it took them so long.

Expect a patch soon for the other PS3 regions and XBLA version in the coming weeks.

As for the price, I think SCE have said that the price is determined by the developer (I'm pretty sure that's what I read). How much is it from PSN Hong Kong?

IF not very many people are getting Euro PS3 SFIITHD version due to delay and timing with SFIV, would this have impact on future DLC from Capcom or other publishers if being more wary?

Sure Q/A need to be praised if indeed SCEE is more stricter than XBL and US PSN, but still doesnt change the economy of how this is impacting on the business end and whether worth investing?

Still PSN is to be praised for letting us gamers have Flowers, which I have enjoyed quite a lot!

Better late than never...like Euro PSN Shivering Island on PS3?!

I had a hole burning in my pocket last year for this.....then sony closed up all the credit card loopholes on PSN and it was unbuyable.

Ended up getting it on the 360 instead.

I have this already on my PS3 (purchaced from the HK store) and its a great game, its a shame that Sony europe fudged up the release so much. They should have priced it at around £6 for it to stand a chance against SFIV.

By the way, its all about DeeJay!!

Was going to get it on PS3 but Sony/Capcom dropped the ball so the sale was lost, and now I've got the pad with the decent d-pad - PS3 might be for the chop hahahahahaha

If my preorder of SFIV wasn't arriving tomorrow I probably would. If it was December I probably would. Since it is neither, I won't be downloading this at all, which is a shame since I've been looking forward to it for ages.
