    Yay, another WW2 shooter

A historically correct masterpiece, no doubt. Hitler always had a Zeppelin next to the Wolfschanze, so everybody knew at once, where he was. No wonder, he lost the war.

    The game's site is here.

Bertie, do you work for a publisher by any chance or is your hobbie giving links and info on forums relating to unknown titles?
  • Bertie Verified Senior Staff Writer, Eurogamer.net #5 7 years ago

It's just a hobby really, it goes in the same category as my collection of 'left-footed' socks.

" It's just a hobby really, it goes in the same category as my collection of 'left-footed' socks."

Would you mind stopping posting your two cents on each and every game? The demand for people verbalizing the obvious isn't that big, you know?
  • Bertie Verified Senior Staff Writer, Eurogamer.net #7 7 years ago

Actually I would mind yeah. I put the shots up on the site and post a bit about the game, which is what I thought was wanted.

I work for Eurogamer, I was just taking the piss.

For years we've complained about EG not providing any details to the screenshots, and now someone does it, it's "verbalizing the obvious"?, Eldritch? :)

Anyway, can we trust a developer that makes a speeling mistake in a game's title? I think not.

    It's Wolfsschanze.

    edit: Doh! :)

What's the point? Why not just post the link to the product's site?

    And as for this:

"Things get put in place, bomb goes off, he thinks he's won. Hitler's foiled him, things go tits up, and Claus gets executed."

Is that supposed to be amusing? I don't think it is.

Hitler didn't "foil" Stauffenberg. Stauffenberg planted the bomb, left the building and somebody else shifted the bomb to another place. Hitler didn't do anything about the bomb.

"things go tits up"? Well, that's a great way to talk about people getting hung on piano strings, because they're plan failed and Hitler could have his revenge. He actually had the executions filmed to be able to watch them over and over again. What a laugh. Hilarious. Bring your friends.

"Claus gets executed" So much for verbalizing the obvious.

    And yes, I'm German.

    Christ, ok.

I didn't mean to belittle the events that this game is based around, I was pushed for time, sorry if it sounded that way.

You've got a problem with me, fine, that's good for you.

Well, I am German, too, and it didn't really bother me. Remember that we react a lot more sensitive to this whole topic, and should do, but can't and shouldn't expect that from people not from Germany.
  • Bertie Verified Senior Staff Writer, Eurogamer.net #12 7 years ago

UncleLou, of course, it was a stupid oversight of mine.

Just for the record, I don't find people dieing funny, or hilarious, and I won't bring my friends.
  • Eldritch #13 7 years ago

    Cheers, I really appreciate it.

Mind you, I play all the way through RTCW, and no regrets.

I'm just sick of developers coming up with absurd pretexts for Nazi-bashing games and game sites copy/pasting them. You want to kill Nazis, great, do it like in RTCW, but don't pretend you're actually honoring the handful of officers who had the guts to strike against Hitler by creating games like this one.

And no, I don't have a problem with you personally. I don't even know you personally. (C:

What I object to is copy/pasting (what I consider to be) PR blah-blah. I'd prefer a link to the products website, possibly a release date. That's all.

UncleLou, of course, it was a stupid oversight of mine.

Think you misunderstod me, it wasn't an accusation - quite the contrary. It's only normal that we react (over-)sensitive to this topic (which is probably a good thing), not that you reacted unsensitive.

To be honest, the thing that got me about this game was the 'oh, another WW2 game'.

I'm only young, but it gets to me that people can't quite grasp what happened, and it seems, don't want to, these days. We still have our memorial marches n' things, but how many of the younger generation take an active interest in it? The numbers are certainly dwindling.

Mind you, that statement can go for a lot of previous conflicts. Certainly no war has seen slaughter on the scale of the World Wars, but I wonder if this generation would fight for future generations the way that previous ones did.

Actually, I was trying not to copy/paste - which was why the information didn't come out quite right :)

The game's being developed by Calaris Studios, and is slated for release in 2005.

His arm looks like a fucking fire extinguisher.
  • WoodenSpoon #18 7 years ago

Is it an HL2 mod, or just borrowing it's effects?
  • wattoo #19 7 years ago

It does look a bit ropey.

    LOTS of crates

and they appear to have got the swastika the wrong way round

(maybe they reversed the screenshot for some reason)

I'm all for this game. I really loved the looks of 90s games so this'll help me relive those glory gaming days.
  • FWB #22 7 years ago

Looks shit. I've pulled out more creative stuff out of my ear with a cotton bud.
