Wipeout Fusion started a trend. Not showing a grid on the screen adjust so you can't center it properly; and unique to Fusion - the menu and ingame resolution aren't the same so a centered menu doesn't mean centered ingame graphics.

Still, they can't mess that one up on PSP!

They make GREAT desktop backgrounds though :)

Not half as annoying as the uninformed stating opinion as fact. Actually they're not 'mockup' images at all. It's possible to capture screens at a higher-than-screen-res on PSP devkits.

As a graphic designer, and friend of an ex-DR employee, it's nice to hear people appreciating this aspect of game presentation.

When DR were dropped from Wipeout, they were told the game would have a 'new' look and direction. As it turned out, they chose a bunch of amateurs who did their best to copy DR, and charged a damn site more in the process.

But it does seem they've found a fairly good copy-cat design studio this time round. If that's a good thing....?

I did wonder if DR were still involved. IIRC the menus on the PSP version have 2197 on them. They did the Warp site didn't they?

IronGiant - Not working on the project I couldn't say for sure. First gen games are never a great indication of a platforms capabilities anyway.

DR were/are fantastic, in fact i still have all the old PWEI records with their wicked designs!! The WipEout gameplay, music and design from DR were a perfect fit IMHO.

That's exactly why im excited about future PSP games.. WipEout itself is amazing on a handheld and this is a launch title :)

I still wish it had a higher framerate - but it is great.
Anymore news on unlocking the 333mhz processor on the PSP - I heard it's set to 222 to reduce battery consumage until better batteries are out...?

I am a wipeout veteran and I love wipeout pure. After 5 minutes you forget it's a handheld. It's fantastic. Greetings from Germany
