Now these are starting to look a little more impressive. Though it looks like Martin's been working on the game. ;)

I donnow, it must be playing my xbox to much lately but those graphics don't look that impressive.
Sure its pretty but for game that's going to be released in 2003 they could try a little better..
Saving triangles on curves, don't see the need for that given the present hardware available.

Skalmanxl, no Halo doesn't look any better, and that's the whole point.
These graphics remind me of halo yes, but Halo is about one year old if i'm not mistaken.
But the unreal screens look better don't they ?

"for game that's going to be released in 2003"

It's working on the same principle as EA Sports games - ie, although it's called 2003 it's actually going to be released in the summer of 2002. :)

Why don't they call it UT 3000 to be save for another 998 years ?

This is starting to look seriously cool. 1st set of character pics look kinda WH40K IMO, which ain't a bad thing.

Well, this should do that, no problem. U2(!) itself will probably be even more demanding.

And worse still, I guess he needs all that space just for his porn collection. ;)

Anyway, back on subject. I think the shadows and lighting look really good. (I can't wait for this game!!!). Still, I'm not so sure about that sniper rifle view? (if that is what it is?).

They are? These ones look a lot better than the first batch that got leaked out (those looked awful), but admittedly they're not quite as good as the last lot we got.

You know John, I can read your mind. I was expecting a comment like that when I saw these shots :) And anyway, it's not a filter, it's a very complex method involving alpha channel selections I'll have you know!

The characters look pretty but there is a lack of detail in the rest of the pics, lots of fog and not much of a draw distance.

No, the trees in that shot are those new-fangled square trees, genetically engineered to grow into convenient cuboid shapes to reduce wastage when you cut them down to turn into lengths of 2x4. Honest. :)

Compared to the likes of Operation: Flashpoint and most we've seen since then, those trees don't look bad. I think the trees in Morrowind look better, but they are of a certain outlandish sort, so that doesn't count.

Sure I play some UT (for teamplay), but I for one play a hella lot more of Q3A for the wonderful DM experience.

I don't play PC games that often, but last night I played one of the best Quake 3 DM games ever!

The guy running the show had set all players to have max weapons and health. The weapons were on rapid fire (i.e. allowing you to fire 100's of rockets at once). Blood and explosions every where!

DM games rule!

To be fair, this is due out later this summer, whereas Doom 3 is probably going to be out Christmas 2003 (assuming it doesn't slip).

i dont see why everybody makes such a big deal about PC graphics in future games, its all a big con.

i mean, the PC isnt a fixed spec platform.. so what ID are probably doing is showing you graphics that will not be achivable for atleast 3 years and then constantly delay the game.. sure, it looks fantastic now, but thats because its not going to be out for ages and by the time it does come out all the other games will be of a similar graphical calibre.

the sneaky thing is, as a result UT2002 which has been designed to run on not so distant hardware now looks a bit rubbish in comparison, and as a result will probably lose a few sales to the idiots who think Doom3 will be out 'after a while'.

the problem is with todays technology, we can pretty much do any idea we can think of.. we dont NEED better graphics, but so long as you have idiots who will buy a game just to show off there brand new £500 graphics card the rest of us have to suffer.

thats my 2cents anyway :)

We don't need better graphics ...
My current pc wont run UT2003 , so don't get me started on doom3.
Why don't they make some nice adventure games like they used to?
Adventures are fun to play, and will run on almost any pc.

Which it may well do... the thing is, though, that nothing will look very good now, until D3 shows, I imagine. Which is kinda annoying.

Still waiting on the demo which was to be released 'in two weeks' about 6 weeks ago.

Try the demo and see what you think, but I reckon this game is going to be very nice indeed.

I'VE BEEN BLESSED!!! I had the privilage of recieving a complimentary beta of Unreal Tournament 2003, though it's not the full game it something nonetheless. The weapons awesome, the maps are breath-taking, and the quality EAX3 support had me looking over my shoulder! There's a DOUBLE domination mode (tho I haven't figured out what to do yet), and CTF. From this small taster of the game I can conclude thats It's well worth the wait for the full thing.

The weapons suck, the maps suck, the only thing that doesn't suck is the graphics, hopefully someone makes a game out of it. Of course that's just me.
