Now that looks a bit more like it...
  • Blerk #2 7 years ago

Tombs! Waterfalls! Mountains! Trees! This is what Tomb Raider is made of! Not 'cities' and 'hotels'.

    Nice jumper, by the way.
  • drumbaby #3 7 years ago

Looks really nice. Glad to see ye wide open spaces of olde, instead of rubbish dingy French toilets.

i'm getting more and more hopeful for this franchise.
Still plenty of scope for a visitation by General Cokup but it's looking positive. Lara's also looking a bit more mature/older as well.
... or is that just me?
  • Blerk #6 7 years ago

I posted some more pictures in the forum by the way.

Any news on what the movement is like? Is it still very animation based? That always turned me off the other games.

I loved the feel of the first game, a lot because of the environments you were in. Felt like Indiana Jones or something. The sort of places where you feel you are the first person to explore them in thousands of years where the roof could cave in at any moment. After the first game they felt they had to go one better and put pointless vehicles and silly environments in game to come.

THIS looks a lot more like it. Using the power of modern hardware and graphical advancements to good effect as far as I can see...and locations such as Tombs! (as in the title) and temples. Kinda looking forward to this one!

Still looking a bit big in the chest department, but otherwise much improved over Core's amatureish rendering efforts.

(Not that I could do any better mind...)

The Website's just been launched, too.

Hm, I don't know, it's of course significantly above average, but it's not like you don't see things like this now and then. And they look reasonably real. :)
  • Blerk #13 7 years ago

looks worse than res evil 4 imho

Yeah, with them being completely different games and on entirely different platforms and all.
  • Blerk #14 7 years ago

    Gratuitous 'breasts' shot

What? I made that one? Oh. Busted! :-)
  • Tyronne #15 7 years ago

Batman must be a bit pissed off with his utility belt being half inched but at least now her figure can actually be considered a genuine female one and not one so top heavy she should fall over.
  • mal #16 7 years ago

The general physique is far more believable now, but more than ever she appears to be wearing France's entire allotment of eye-liner. For a year.

Oh, and by the way, you know when you find out that curry you had last night wasn't so good...
  • Blerk #17 7 years ago

It's a current-gen game. PS2/Xbox/PC. Xbox2 version 'might' come along. They announced it and then unannounced it later.

    Graphics aren't everything, man!
  • Cyhwuhx #18 7 years ago

.::: Now... give it classical music to match with and it will be almighty...
  • Teeth #19 7 years ago

It looks like an exercise video.

See all that equipment she's carrying:

What I want to know is, when she uses a grenade, for example, is there one less grenade on her belt? I don't care about how big her boobs are - I'm not going to be looking at them the whole game. However, I'd get really annoyed if the game told me I didn't have any grenades left, when I could see 3 in plain site.

In the a preview I read the guy from CD basically said that her whole inventory is 'on view'. If you have it, you see it. If you don't, you don't.

    Hope that's true!
  • Kami #22 7 years ago

It's looking really good. Plenty of room for it to still be a disaster, but it looks like it's going in the right direction... which is more than we could say for Core's efforts...

    Who likes short shorts?
  • OnlyMe #23 7 years ago

Am I the only one that think it's pathetic how much they seem to aim for teenage boys who's never had sex?
  • rinoaMW #24 7 years ago

"Am I the only one that think it's pathetic how much they seem to aim for teenage boys who's never had sex? "

    yes basically :P

this game looks awesome.... and i know you've all heard this from various core PR guys, but it really looks like lara's gone back to her roots...

now give me thought provoking vistas and lovely orchestral music and ill be happy!
  • Nikanoru #25 7 years ago

eh? gamecube is better graphically than the ps2.. so how could a ps2 game look better than a gamecube game?

If you read his post, the guy thought it was a nextgen game.

Though, to be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if many nextgen games don't turn out to be all that better looking than current gen anyway....I finally want that Toystory quality that they promised all those years ago dammit!
  • davyuk #26 7 years ago

And I thought AoD had killed off any last hope in the franchise. Do us proud Lara :)
  • Kami #27 7 years ago

Well, remember the original DID have one CG scene where Lara infiltrated Natla's offices. (That was a cool scene all those years ago.) But yeah, Tomb Raider needs to be about... Raiding Tombs!

Legend is certainly looking different, but that is more down to a new development team being behind this one I think. A fresh new perspective on the series. Hopefully it works out great.

... but I won't be holding my breath. Looking sweet... but there's lots of scope for everything to go - if you'll forgive the expression - "Tits Up!"...

Nothing new, just hi-res instead of low-res :)
  • UncleLou #29 7 years ago

I've registered and watched the 3d-demonstration on the week-end. When the music kicked in, it felt just like all these years ago.

    /hopes for the best
  • jellyhead #30 7 years ago

I always loved the music in these games as well UncleLou. I even ripped them (from 1 & 2 anyway) and put my favourites on a cd with some tracks from the mechwarrior games. Beautiful, baby, beautiful.

I've heard that the bloke who did the old TR music has left though, do we know who's doing the new soundtrack? Is he back?
  • Blerk #31 7 years ago

Y'know, I was asking about a soundtrack the other day and it never crossed my mind that they were PSOne games and hence I can just rip the CDs. :-)
  • #32 7 years ago

    dammit,

I wish they'd ask me before making a new Tomb Raider game!

although saying that, almost any amount of market research should point out the flaws in the last few games.

    here's hoping
  • cardboardMonster #33 7 years ago

Cheers for the new screens link, tone. It's looking boss to me. Here's hoping for the true sequel to the first game. :)
  • Bru-Man #34 7 years ago

Nice, but why does she have square arse-cheeks (as seen from between the legs) when you have a shot from the front?
  • stormcr0wfleet #35 7 years ago

looking good. i was happy when the xbox version was anounced beacuse i dont think the ps2 could pull off those screens as smooth as an xbox, Its alreay looking much better than angel of darkness.. still for me the 1st and 2nd tomb raidiers are the best ones and id be pleased if the game does indeed go back to its roots :). but please please give the engine some prober lighting this time, not just some fixed shadow following me around!.
  • MoFo #36 7 years ago

    Caves...yay!....more caves...yeah...more caves...mmm....more caves...pfftt...more caves....yawn...more caves....zzzzz.

Face it, Indiana Jones did a lot more than exploring caves and underground temples and that's what made it cool. A whole game set in dingy underground settings really doesn't inspire my excitement. Still, seems most people enjoy the manotony so have fun folks.
  • MoFo #37 7 years ago

Lara Croft swings on rope over pit of spikes SHOCKER!
  • Nikanoru #38 6 years ago

Yeah, well, and you suck. :(

I hope they don't fuck this game up, I hope that they make her destroy or lose that goddamn radio, I hope they at least give us the option of using the old controls instead of that retarded camera-relative shit, and I HOPE they don't pull a Raiden on us with that blonde woman in the black suit.

Mmh, that last screenshot somehow reminds me of ICO. Well, an erotic fan art of ICO anyway.
