i thought exactly the same thing, strange.

Ever thought it might just be a flat, cheap port and not be using any of the extra 'thingies'?
  • Pirotic #3 10 years ago

well i've seen a few of these exact screenshots a while ago refered to as PS2 screenshots.
  • Gestalt #4 10 years ago

I am a little suspicious because of the aspect ratio - these shots are 1.43:1, which is how PS2 screenshots almost always come out, while Xbox shots are usually 1.33:1
  • Blerk #5 10 years ago

Aha. That'll be a con instead then.

Standard disclaimer: the Xbox/GC versions may still turn out to be flat, cheap ports. :-)
  • Gestalt #6 10 years ago

Er .. it's coming out on PS2, GC and Xbox. I think that covers pretty much everyone interested in gaming these days. ;)
  • Blerk #7 10 years ago

What about a GBA version? ;-)
  • Gestalt #8 10 years ago

I'm sure it's only a matter of time.
  • Pirotic #9 10 years ago

argg.. even the new batch of screenshots are blatantly PS2, low resolution, no bump-mapping and no anti-aliasing.. [pirotic checks the icon in the corner].. FreeRadicalDesign have messed up

So are we to get a watered down PS2 port of TS2 on Xbox and GC?
    Certainly looks that way

with every batch of new screenshots i hope that they 'might' of added the improvements to the xbox and gc ports... lets have a look...

    Nope, still PS2 shots :)

    What about the Dreamcast dammit!?
  • Blerk #13 10 years ago

    Ewww - blurry! :-)
  • Pirotic #14 10 years ago

arg.. more screenshots and STILL no improvement over PS2, just check out how blurry the textures are, why did they not make high-res ones to start with and then tone them down for the PS2 or did they really just decide to do the ports at the last minute ?

  • Blerk #15 10 years ago

Still looking suspiciously identical to the PS2 version, I see.

p.s. please pretend this comment is also on the GC screenshots page. I can't be bothered to type it twice.
  • Pirotic #16 10 years ago

Yup, Identical. such a shame when you consider how much more shine they could of put on it, compare GTA3 to Halo and you start to get a good idea.

Nice to see the crappy PS2 holding back the game.

All MS need to do is sell more Xboxes than PS2s. It's a better machine, so how hard can it be?

    Heh.

Free Radical design is still a small company, so i can understand that they simply dont have to the to make another set of high-polygon textures and models. but its a pretty good design ethic to create all your textures high quality and then size them down so you can then use them in later games.

At least they could support bump-mapping, doesn't require any addional work other than specifying which textures should be bump-mapped.
