What I'm told Tekken 5 does is that it still keeps the ideas, but it really tightens them up and makes them work far better. The scenery is there, but not quite as stupidly positioned or damageable as in Tekken 4. Escapes and the like can still be performed, but not so easily or cheaply. The moves are supposedly more balanced, style a little more cohesive, and the game just generally a lot more balanced and refined. The ideas introduced in Tekken 4 have apparantly been much more intelligently worked into Tekken 5.
... basically, I've been told Tekken 5 is what Tekken 4 SHOULD have been. It's a bit of a shame Tekken 4 exists if Tekken 5 is as good as I'm being told... but every good games series has it's disasters I suppose...
