This is the Rockstar vanity project yes?

Can I get my UB765 Bat and bloodily take out opponents with a "Powerpong" shot?

Is it an urban rites-of-passage tale about a table tennis "baller" from the projects?

Or is it just a nice looking simulation of a very dull sport that people only play at caravan parks in Normandy?

what the hell have rockstar gone and done now.

and anyway, there aren't enough polys on that ball. you need at least 10,000 for a next gen ping pong ball.

Ok guys whats up. My name is Wally Green I am a pro Table tennis player, and I did most of the motion capture for the game. I represent The US in international competition such as Japan Open, China Open, Korea Open, German Open, Austria, Croatia, and many many more. I am am actually also sponsored by Rockstar. Although there are no guns gang fights and any other violence in the this game. It is very exciting and fast paced. Its a very fun game for all ages. Table Tennis is an incredibly difficult sport. it is one of the fastest sports in the world, and believe it or not you have to be in incredible shape to play at the top level, Dont think of it as just your average "ping Pong" the game that is played in the basement of so many players. Its nothing at all like that. I train at least four hours a day and then two hours in the gym after training. Table tennis requires Speed, Power, Focus, and extreme concentration. That is what makes it so difficult. Now some of you guys may be saying "oh this guy is probably some corney "uncool" ping pong player just praising the game that he plays." This is definitely not the case. I have played all sports from wrestling to basketball to snow boarding and even aggressive skating (skate boarding and inline) I grew up in Brooklyn New york in Marlboro Projects and I currently live in Harlem New York City. Not only do I play table tennis. I am a graphic designer and I also have a colaboration hip hop album that came out in Japan. So i would consider myself to be a pretty down to earth individual Trust me this sport is far from Dull and boring if played correctly. Check this out we all know the game of air hockey right. Well this whole week I was in vegas doing exhibitions and clincs for the Tennis Channel Open. There was also a pro air hockey tournament to be scheduled later on in the week. Now I thought the same as some of you were about Table Tennis . "Ice Hockey" is that really a sport? But I tell you it was amazing! nothing like I have ever seen before! the things these guys were doing with the puck was incredible. Well I actually was asked to play in the doubles competiton because they were short one guy. It was such an adrenaline rush when I was playing with the pros in a sport that I didnt even know existed as a sport. So all I am asking you guys is to just keep an open mind and forget about what you normally see in the basement cause you may be surprised like I was. I know this posting is damn long and i apologise for that, but for those who actually read it thanx!

@tengu : I repected you a lot, but I after learning your feelings towards Table Tennis, I think you are the lowliest form of scum ever to exist beneath the deepest crevasses of rocks under the Mariana Trench. No, you are not even scum, you are a virus. No, wait..... ;-/

@wallygreennyc : Table Tennis is a game to wax lyrical about, and if you love the game even half as much as comes accross from your post, I think the game will ROCK. It is refreshing to see someone so openly posting in LOVE of something. That said, do you really think the game will be able to provide entertainment to a novice player like me who aspires to play like the pros (i.e. in a non-basement fashion)? Because real-life TT is so easy to get your hands upon, unlike say Basketball or Hockey or Cricket or Football (I am talking about the full deal, with complete teams and stadia), what will be the main attraction for this one?

Looks neat except for the Table Tennis: Dungeon Masters Tournament-setting

one thing worries me about that post by wallygreennyc - he said he did most of the motion capture for the game. but that means there will be only one style of playing for all the characters - including the women? hmm.
  • wallygreennyc #13 6 years ago

Hey wassup I was reading some of the postings and I want to answer some of the questions. 1st answer is for Talha. Yes the game is great for people who know nothing about table tennis as well as the ones who play at all levels. Its just a fun and exciting game to play. I think you will enjoy it alot.

2nd answer is for stoopidgreg. There are others who were involved in the capture also so there are of course different styles and attitudes when I say most its the very important aspects of the strokes but they are modified when others come to do the motion capture and of course a girl would be totally different so dont worry its a great game, lots of fun!

hey if you guys get the chance please check out Daftfilms.com and go to clips then niche American table tennis. Check it out.

I'm not sure I'm happy with the implication that all table tennis players are sweat and unattractive. What are you trying to pull here, Rockingstar?
