What was this called in Japan?

Look how small the XBox looks compared to the controller.
  • BartonFink #2 10 years ago

Holy shit look at the size of that thing...

Any chance this will ever be released in Europe?
  • ssuellid #3 10 years ago

It was called something different(Japanese ish) last time I saw some screenshots so I presumed its been renamed for the States and maybe Europe.

What was this called in Japan?
It was "Tekki", not to be confused with "Tenko" that's all about running a female prison camp during WWII.
  • skalmanxl #5 10 years ago

Yeah Tekki it is, seeing that it have gotten a english title...we might see that setut over here too..
  • Gestalt #6 10 years ago

That controller is absolutely mad. I mean .. it's like three times the size of an Xbox FFS. This is getting out of hand! ;)
  • otto #7 10 years ago

This is a multiplayer game right? I mean, you'd need at least three Japanese people to operate that thing.
  • BartonFink #8 10 years ago

Read somewhere that there are pedals with the controller too.
  • skalmanxl #9 10 years ago

There is EVEN a eject button on it. You need to flip open a small plastic lid and then push it...geekpoints!
  • Whizzo #10 10 years ago

The controller is easily the most over the top piece of gaming hardware ever, I just hope the game is actually worth it.
  • Psi #11 10 years ago

    neeeed controller droool.

does it have a cigarette lighter?
  • otto #12 10 years ago

what you really want is a force feedback link between the eject button and your chair.
  • barchetta #13 10 years ago

Gotta set this up in me mates caravan and get a bunch of people to rock it from side to side - Full-on robo motion!!!
  • Psi #14 10 years ago

quite sad if you ask your mates to go outside to rock your caravan! "if its a rockin dont come nocking... were playing games lol"
  • Alan Barton #15 10 years ago

WTF?!?... its even got a button called "Washing!?" 8o)

(The "Washing" button is just below the Tuner Dial and above the "weapon controlL - main" button).

So how the hell does that work?!?
  • Gestalt #16 10 years ago

LOL! I hadn't spotted that. Maybe it's for the windscreen wipers? Or maybe it makes your mecha go down to the laundrette and wash you some clean underwear?
  • IgWannA #17 10 years ago

how much is the controller going to cost?? it'll be about £80 i'm guessing, then add the price of the game...
  • skalmanxl #18 10 years ago

  • Pirotic #19 10 years ago

you can import the JAP version with the controller for £240, the controller is 3 times the size of the xbox just to give you an idea of how big the brute really is.
  • Blerk #20 10 years ago

So £200 of the cost is the shipping charges for the controller? :-)
  • Whizzo #21 10 years ago

If someone was to spend so much money on it I hope it lasts more than about 10 hours or the game itself isn't much cop...

the interface is a bit claustrophobic, i hope you can change to an external view at any time during the game.
  • Razz #23 10 years ago

Oh dear. This game look ugly and boring. Why did they even bother... :(

    -=Razz=-
  • skalmanxl #24 10 years ago

It looks wonderful in motion though...really sweet.
  • otto #25 10 years ago

    lol

this chap reminds me of a story told by a mate of mine who manages a pension fund for a bunch of firemen in Minnesota. He had to go over there to give a presentation to them. Ended up spending most of it explaining the concept of foreign currencies.
  • sam_spade #26 10 years ago

Wow they've really spruced up that HUD, it's not invasive at all is it?

    Is there a HUD? I couldn't say I noticed...

You know, I don't get that upset anymore with Otto when he makes comments like that one, because it's become obvious that he just doesn't know any better.

On the other hand, for the many of you that get that slightly unsettling feeling when you read one of his anti-(insert various countries/cultures/consoles) posts, you should be ashamed of yourselves for not speaking out against them. Just sort of looking the other way when someone misbehaves publicly has social consequences.

I know, I know, many of you probably agree with his views, but my comments are directed towards the rest of you that know better.

p.s. I know many of you think I'm an ass (am I allowed to say that?), but please try to think about what I'm saying, anyways.
  • otto #29 10 years ago

Woah cyber nicco, what did I do? That was a true story. If you want to read anti-americanism into it, then that's your spin.

one of his anti-(insert various countries/cultures/consoles) posts

Hmm. I'll admit that I can come across as shall we say mildly hostile to some aspects of American culture. I like to think that I back up my views though. I don't think I've ever said anything against any other country/culture. Well, maybe Belgium. But I'm allowed, I live there.
