It's Squall on drugs in a Rezzy game!

    Stunning video teaser though...
  • ST.. #5 10 years ago

Anyone have a link for this?
  • mouse Verified Graphic designer, Eurogamer Network #6 10 years ago

I can't remember where I found it now. I think it was an IGN one though, so have a rake about on there.
  • Blerk #7 10 years ago

Looks tasty. Also looks 'cut-scene'. Any in-game shots?
  • bionutz #8 10 years ago

will it be available on ps2? Christmas is coming and I have to choose between Gamecube and PS2

That's supposed to be real-time game engine

I never said it wasn't the in-game engine, but they still look like cut-scene shots. I'm more interested in seeing how the actual game looks.

Yep, another lush-graphical way to watch a grown man moonwalk endlessly into a wall....

Man I'm bored to death with Resident Evil.

The shots are definetly in game
  • pjmaybe #13 10 years ago

    Look who cares...

    Wall...

    Moonwalk...

    Enough said!

    yes indeedy they are!!!
  • skalmanxl #15 10 years ago

It does come off as more Alone in the Dark then Resident Evil. Fuck it, it looks stunning, and it looks like it will bring something new into the series as well.
  • Khab #16 10 years ago

Let's just hope they remake the control system as well, or there's scarce point in re-doing the engine...

If you like Resi, don't listen to Peej. He's a bitter, twisted individual. (Evil concience: Oh yeah, like you're not!)

I think it IS about time we got a different angle in a Resident Evil game. As much as I loved the pre-rendered backdrops and the dark, often claustrophobic atmosphere - Peej has a point with the moonwalking into walls (Would like to note this DID NOT HAPPEN in CVx, and should not happen here - mainly because the game is entirely 3D.) but to be honest - thats nitpicking at its most lame. If thats the best excuse a person can come up with to diss the game... god, thats a pathetic excuse. I'd understand controls, I'd understand the fact it's too short... but the wall collision? Thats scraping the bottom of the barrel, surely...

Controls will have to be different because this is a different kind of game,
Capcom cannot keep the old control method. For the freedom and space this game seems to provide, I hasten to agree with the old RE dissers that the control mechanism I know and love would be far too clunky. I hope Capcom have realised that. It wouldn't take a heck of a lot to change the controls.

But you have to be the biggest fool around to not agree this game is looking astounding - it is what we RE fans have been waiting for. Something new, something fresh. And no doubt this will be one of the few games which will sell the 'Cube on its own. Ninty might even be clever enough to do a RE-themed 'cube for the anal fanboys and bundle RE4 with it.

Roll on RE4. Shame it's Leon though, he is... well. Offputting. He's now a cross between Leonardo Di Caprio and FF8 Squall... not good...

    ...

I'll be surprised if Ada doesn't make an appearance. It's just too obvious, Leon fell for Ada (Must hold out on the jokes) and vice versa... Capcom are known for leaving plotholes open, I know, but this is one I'm fairly sure they will fill. After all, they're the ones who told US Ada was still alive... must've been a reason for that move. So yeah, I'll be surprised if Ada - or her "new identity" - doesn't turn up somewhere in the game.

(As for best RE game... FOOLS!!! Does no-one appreciate the fun and laughs of RE3? Nemesis MADE that game... well, along with Jill deciding to advertise herself for lunch as well in more ways than one... plus it opened up for Ada and even Sherry to come back sooner or later with their rather cool epilogues. Did I mention Nemesis is cool? *STARS*)

About the RE4 video... I might be able to fetch a new video from that clip someone caught on a digicam (with sound), but I really can't see myself hosting a RE4 world exclusive with non-so-clear NDA agreements hanging around. If anyone else wants to waste their bandwidth, just say.
  • radlord #24 8 years ago

what RE4 needs is a new Master of Unlocking
  • Takashi #25 8 years ago

TyranT - ups, nevermind, it seems like the video has been playing all of last week and I missed it. This week's show had no RE4 trailer.
  • Nikanoru #26 8 years ago

It'd be fun if those farmers were people in the first stages of mental deterioration, like you read in all those diaries throughout the RE games.

That big thing in the lake scares the hell outta me.
  • Kami #27 8 years ago

I think that may be somewhat the point, Nikanoru - gotta keep the zombies, but gotta move the game on in terms of depth. So, maybe, we'll finally get a game where the townspeople are slowly becoming zombies. Since we get a nifty taster in RE:Outbreak, I wouldn't find advancing that on a little out of place in RE4.

It's a lot like those people in RE The Movie... the originally infected are pretty much intact, those who get sired (So to speak) are a bit more of a mess. (Makes sense)

So... yeah. I'm hoping Capcom don't try and totally scrap the zombies and just expand on the concept... although I'm so far intrigued by the big monsters and if they're experiments of just unwilling mutants.
  • lordofdeadside #28 8 years ago

looks like its got QTE's too, shenmue style. nice, the market chase qte in shenmue 2 was amazing, so fighting zombies sould be awesome!
  • bungalooBunny #29 8 years ago

The backgrounds look pre-rendered to me.
  • Kami #30 8 years ago

They might bungalooBunny, but Capcom seem to swear the game is fully 3D.

Considering we seem to have lost the static camera angles (I'm still not so decided if thats good or bad. Come back to me when I've played Outbreak), I'm inclined to believe them.

    ...

I've become increasingly intrigued with the shot thru the binoculars... is that a body on the fire? Or am I seeing things?
  • bungalooBunny #31 8 years ago

Just watched the movie and it still looks fake to me. Also it's mostly cut-cenes so I'm guessing they're doing some tricks here.

If the Cube can manage 3d graphics like these in real time I'll eat my hat.
  • crashVoodoo #32 8 years ago

i wouldn't, i think FF sucks ass, but this RE4 does look 'alright' and i use that term in its loosest possible sense.
  • Humbug #33 8 years ago

    Best graphics ever!!!
  • eric2k5 #34 8 years ago

Can't wait for this game, it should be a return to form for the Resident Evil series. Graphics look cool and the gameplay looks interesting. Camera angles might cause trouble though if they don't keep on top of it.

I have fond memories of wandering around the original's mansion and the police station in Resident Evil 2. You have to play this type of game at night in a quiet house with the lights off for full effect!

I hope Capcom get the atmospheric music right this time as well because that is one of their strong points. I'm sure they will. Believe.
