hahaha never have I loved the power of my little purple cube as much as after seeing those shots you continue to be an underated gem my precious we like it that way
  • Kami #3 7 years ago

    oh.
    my.
    god.

Compared to the cube version, this looks... pretty awful. Have to say though, for a PS2, this is pretty special. Kudos to Capcom for making it look fairly good... but still. Why settle for second best?
  • Razz #4 7 years ago

EXACTLY!! Especially when u get a cube for next to nothing
  • asphaltcowboy #5 7 years ago

Why oh why, didn't they do this on Xbox instead?
  • saiwun #6 7 years ago

This can't be final. The lighting is pretty much non-existent, or some art monkey has seriously arsed it up.

Haha, and EVEN STILL when downgraded for PS2 like this, it looks more impressive than many "next gen" games we've seen.

Doesn't say so much about this game as it does about the fact that the new consoles should have waited a couple more years.

hmmm ? wheres all the sony fanboys at ? too ashamed to speak me thinks! Although this title isnt bad for a ps2 ,in comparison to the cube version i can liken it to a discrete fart ( somthing u hope the others wont notice!)

When porting a game from one console to another, the visuals always suffer.

Are you lot really surprised that in the PlayStation edition of RE4 this has embodied itself in jaggies, the achilles heel of the console?

Or do you just post these comments to make yourself proud that you only own a GameCube? (Which is the inferior console, it just doesn't suffer that particular problem.)

I'm more worried about the borders!
  • stoopidgreg #11 7 years ago

i hope they port this to the 360, since i don't own a cube or ps2 and i got hooked playing it at a friend's house.

Kami: "Have to say though, for a PS2, this is pretty special."

Maybe for a first-gen Capcom PS2 title. But not for anything else.

[EDIT] Even the PS2 version of <a href=http://www.gamespot.com/ps2/adv enture/residentevilcodeveronica10/screenindex.html>Co de Veronica X</a> looked better (by your terms - ie jaggies).

Have you even played on a PS2?!?

looks like tomb raider one the ps1
  • tengu #14 7 years ago

Looks MUCH better than I thought it would. Might double dip for this one...
  • IronGiant #15 7 years ago

It's safe to say everyone knew it wouldn't look as good.. though there's nothing wrong with PS2 owners finally getting to play what is a fantastic game. What's really sad is the comments in this thread, talk about sad losers, taking real pleasure in the graphics not being as good.. look outside boys and find what you're missing, a life.
  • smelly #16 7 years ago

"I do find it funny when some of the Sony hardcore and alot of the casual gamers who no nothing about games still say that the Cube is weaker then the PS2, I think they've all been proven wrong at long last. "

Well the cube is CHEAPER than the PS2 (which is still rediculously expensive considering).. so it MUST be worse.. well in the eyes of the casual monkey.

"talk about sad losers, taking real pleasure in the graphics not being as good.. look outside boys and find what you're missing, a life."

Hmm it's all retrospective isnt it? All the fanboys have been saying the cube is shit for ages because it's cheap and is in smaller case, so therefor MUST be less powerful. These guys are just reacting to that.

Same goes for the revolution, no-one knows anything about it yet but because it's going to be cheap and small, people have already presumed it's gonna be less powerful (despite being told that graphically it will be "on par" with the other 2).

So yeah, you can understand some comments. That said, the ps2 should be more capable than this. Seems like a shoddy conversion considering how long they've had to do it.
  • smelly #18 7 years ago

yeah.. quantity is much more important than quality. I'd much rather have the choice of endless shitty racing games that i wouldnt want to play anyhow.
  • ProfessorLesser #19 7 years ago

quantity is much more important than quality

Unfortunately, this is true, as both the N64 and Gamecube will tell you :-)

I get your point, and I'm with you. But we both should know that, for the console, quantity is more important.
