    Looks alright, I guess :-/

edit: actually, no. The second screenshot looks awful and the other two look like an average current gen. game.

Doesn't look like a 'next gen# screenshot to me TBH...

If this is the 'shape of things to come' I'm not gonna bother...

I hope it's better than Messiah...

Djini: As nintendo said, the next Gen's note about graphics mate.

Doom3 and Riddick have better quality GFX.

    Must try harder.

wasp: they are xbox 360 shots, not ps3
  • #8 7 years ago

LOL... the guy 1 in from the right on the 4th picture looks like he's been drinking semen...
  • IronGiant #9 7 years ago

Just goes to show, all that extra power is useless if the team using it are crap! :)
  • onyxbox #10 7 years ago

    ah.. bless.... next !
  • Wobbler #11 7 years ago

I rather like these screenies; they show that all the OMFGWTF!!!!! reaction to next gen is just fanboys buying the hype, and that the next-gen stuff, won't be that much better than current gen; at least initially.

That being said, is does look rather ... lacklustre at the moment.

The 4th picture looks good. Apart from that - not too impressed.
  • Teeth #13 7 years ago

The blood in the fourth picture has been added by hand.
  • Xensor #14 7 years ago

The first 3 pics look like current gen stuff and pretty low detail currtent gen stuff too. The last one shows some potential apart from the identikit zombies and bland backdrops....

Yes folks, this is nextgen. I would like to convince myself that they are the screenshots from the XBox360 in multiplayer mode with 45 players online playing on a 14" CRT display, listening to music and chatting with each other simultaneously whereas another 'desktop' behind the game runs Lord of the Rings movie in the background, which you can switch to anytime by pressing the white button thrice in quick succession.

Then, and only THEN, these shots will approach adequacy for me. These shots are horrific, and coupled with EA's underwhelming Madden demo (which was, by the way, pre-rendered), expose the XBox 360 for what it really is: a scaled-down Mac, which MS thinks can work wonders with a three-core processors.

THIS IS NOT NEXT GEN, but very much sub current-gen PC. Wait for PS3 and Revolution for the real, er, revolution
  • Stu #16 7 years ago

I don't suppose Microsoft are too chuffed about them going out and saying these are Xbox 360 shots. They all look very, very average with the exception of the last one, which is still achievable on current gen.

Gringo, the only they could be 'in-engine' would be the developers have FINISHED AND FINAL hardware to run this on...

Is that what you are saying?
  • Bezzy #18 7 years ago

Just goes to show - it's not the size of your polycount, it's what you do with it which... counts.
  • #19 7 years ago

Why on earth would they need both those capitalised items? Are you saying you can't video capture from prototype hardware? Are you inferring that to have an engine that can display graphics you need final hardware?

I'm saying that unless you are running a game on the actual hardware the end user is going to be running the game on, the game's just a representation, and not nesesarily what can be 'expected' of the XBOX2.

For all we know, it could be running code on the 'prototype' in 30fps, but could only be 10fps on the harware we'll eventaully have. Claiming otherwise would be seriously misleading.

Imagine if the prototype had 2 Gb of ram, and a 256MB Graphics card, thus enabling very high textures which would not be seen on the production console... You'd be pissed off wouldn't you?

That's why I'm asking you Gringo... As you seem to imply you know this is 'in engine' as a fact, I'm asking you is this on 'final hardware'... If it's not, and it's on prototype hardware, I'd be sceptical of anyone claiming this is what can be expected, until it's on a finished product...

I'm not having a go or desputing your claim, I just want some clarity on your remarks...
  • #20 7 years ago

I had no idea that the prototyes are under the final spec as a rule (makes sense though) as I am not in 'the industry'...

It wouldn't be the first time we're seen 'examples' and demos of supposedly 'in game' when they are nothing of the sort... Just curious I guess...

    Who doesn't wait? I suspect it's most of us (!) :)

  • rinoaMW #21 7 years ago

Tbh, its hard to tell from those 4 shots what the hardware is pushing.

IMO i dont think that well see the graphical leap like we are used to seeing when 'next-gen' consoles are released, but basically pushing more on screen stuff. What would u rather see from a first generation game on a new console?

Hundreds of zombies running around a nicely realised totally interactive, huge free-roaming city? (lets face it, it already looks better than GTA and ppl bought that by the barrel load)

or a single 'next-gen' zombie in a single street with loads of physics-based flesh wobble?

    i know what i'd rather see :P

i think if the lighting is sorted out, the graphics go through some develpment and the game is fun then theres no reason that this game couldn't turn out to be quite fun.

lets just watch this space to see what the developers do before we all bitch about some badly released early-dev screen shots eh? ;)

    Sorry fellas.

    This is 100% PS3 in-game.

    PS3 eh?

    "Sorry fellas.

    This is 100% PS3 in-game."

No it's not. Try reading the news article relating to this game. It looks shite whatever platform it's on and if Bad Boys is anything to go buy it'll play as bad as it looks.

"These are in-game shots from the Xbox 2 early proof of concept demo," a Blitz representative told Eurogamer, contradicting reports elsewhere suggesting they're in-game PS3 shots. "They're from a level that was created to demonstrate plans for the game, but which might not appear in the finished version."

No clue why they released the shots...It's not like they couldn't have anticipated the 'omgwtf' reaction these rough early sketch shots would cause.
  • tedster11 #28 7 years ago

Wow, the future of computer entertainment looks so real.
  • Pirotic #29 7 years ago

nice try, get your shit game screenshots out beore the proper stuff to get extra attention.
  • BLACKSHEEP #30 7 years ago

Hmm, well clearly a mock-up but only the prison zombies looks next-gen and only in a hi-res texture way!
  • Razz #31 7 years ago

I think this is one of those game you need to see in motion before you judge it.
  • Nikanoru #32 7 years ago

The new shots are still looking shite, if not worse. Look at the last screen, I mean, RE2 flashback? Jesus fucking Christ. Nextgen my ass.
  • Blerk #33 7 years ago

    Ugh! Crap!

These new shots are even worse than the last lot!
  • deepmenace #34 7 years ago

look at the number of dudes on screen tho.....

u dont get that on no home system at the mo. period.
