C'mon show us more than that! It's not exactly inspiring is it?
  • Nikanoru #2 7 years ago

It's another racing game. How inspiring can it get?

Slow day?... More old screen shots!?!
  • Bertie Verified Senior Staff Writer, Eurogamer.net #4 7 years ago

Yeah, they were already here, but I replaced them with some 'official' higher-res shots.
  • ralphwolfenstein #5 7 years ago

ah, but have you seen the hi-res movie on CVG.com? Now that is truly beautiful...

OMG, you KNOW that Sagacia is going to be like the Tamora in PGR2 but with extra sex so that it goes at mach 10.

It's all looking very nice indeed, all you need now, is to see it running at 5fps ;)
  • pinhead #8 7 years ago

Have you seen the 3d model shots of the buildings on IGN, looks great. Remember that the demo's that you have seen to date are running on incomplete hardware.

If this provides as much value for money/entertainment over LIVE! that PGR2 did then this will be an instant buy (if you get a 360 that is...).

In all honesty, I think anyone who's got a strong interest in console gaming will be picking up an Xbox360 and a PS3. A Revolution, well, it's an aquired taste - I know I'll get one though :)

The Xbox360 launcing significantly earlier than the PS3 will give it loads of appeal. I don't think the PS3 needs much talking up, regardless of how Sony handle things. I'm personally more excited about the Xbox360 for it's tried and tested online appeal.

Ooh... now you've done it, Bertie!

*shrug* There have been precisely zero games announced for the Revolution (and by that I mean "real" announcements), all we have is some vague footage of MP3 that might or might not even be Revolution material, the controllers haven't been revealed, as well as the specs...how can you make a judgement on it? For all we know it'll become the console to own. Well, that's wishful thinking, but I really don't like when people grab stuff out of thin air. Because that's all we currently know about the machine. Zip. Don't pretend you know any more and start quoting sales numbers.

Some ingame textures of a firestation here. Look sweet...

But as /.'ers point out, the first image has a reflection of an SUV and firestation texture gets repeated in the second image.

Is it just me or is that new trailer not especially exciting. Not quite sure what I was expecting, though.

What is this texture showing wanking fest the PGR devs have started with? I don't remember seing any of that with Valve's Half Life 2 which:

    1. features much better textures
    2. is more of a texture-oriented game, so to speak

I couldn't care less about texture quality in FPS games, why on Earth would I do it in a bloody racer??
  • Scimarad #16 7 years ago

I had the thought that some of my screen captures of Half Life 2 do seem to look more 'next-gen' than a lot of the stuff being shown for the new consoles. Early days, of course.

Opinions seem to fall into two categories : those who get suspicious because the screenshots are too good to be true and those who feel deceived because the same screenshots do not match the hype.

Either way, you're not being very trusting :p

More to the point, what is there to doubt? At this stage, it looks like a prime case of "same game, more polys" and is exactly advertised as such. That's HD for you.

You had better like it, dear customer, because that is what you have ordered.
  • darkphoenix #18 7 years ago

    Please, make it 60fps...

    Otherwise, go to hell.
  • Yaz #19 7 years ago

^^^ According to the latest EDGE magazine in the UK, they are aiming for 60fps. :)
  • Aka #20 7 years ago

But how does it play?! It's is just PGR2 with better graphics and more features (eg more cars and online stuff). If it is, that's fine but lets not get too worked up about the graphics when it's gameplay the counts.
  • The-Bodybuilder #21 7 years ago

    >" Not quite sure what I was expecting, though."

    Too much, that's for sure.

And has anyone seen the new gears of war video on HD? WOW.
  • Scimarad #22 7 years ago

Nope, still don't get it - Watched it three times and still don't 'get' it. The only bit I'm really impressed with is the in car view.

Curiously, I AM quite impressed with the screenshots so I can't really explain it...

Gears of War IS impressive, mind you.

    Er... Pointless bump ftw! :D
